Darrow's Journey: From Rescue to Family Favorite

Meet Darrow, the charming seven-year-old Australian Shepherd mix with a stunning coat of fox-red fur and a delightful tuft of white on his chest.

Darrow quickly stole the hearts of his family. He sits and waits for attention.

The Cabrera family found Darrow through Licking County’s Humane Society website; Darrow stole their hearts instantly with his irresistible charm. Despite initial trepidation, they knew Darrow belonged with them. The

Having faced some tough situations, Darrow gradually learned to trust the men in his family. Even now, he remains cautious around unfamiliar men, but a few beef jerky treats work wonders in easing his nerves. Darrow's favorite pastime is playing fetch tennis with his mom. She launches tennis balls using a thrower, and Darrow eagerly retrieves them, even teaching his mom a trick or two.

However, Darrow's affections aren't limited to beef jerky and tennis balls; he adores his grandma, too. Visits to grandma's house mean indulging in leftover meats like chicken, lamb, and even ribeye – a true testament to Darrow's fortunate life.

Remarkably intelligent, Darrow excels at learning new tricks and commands, often picking them up from the "Lucky Dog" television show on CBS. One of his crowd-pleasing tricks involves responding to the command "Dracarys!" borrowed from "Game of Thrones." This clever pup thrives on mental stimulation, relishing the opportunity to learn and perform tricks that keep him engaged and happy.

Darrow's presence has been a source of comfort and joy, especially during his mom's work-from-home days. Acting as her loyal supervisor, he has strengthened their bond through thick and thin.

However, Darrow is not a fan of dental hygiene. The mere thought of brushing his teeth sends him scurrying for cover, or worse, running off with the toothbrush if he gets the chance!

During walks with his mom, approach cautiously if you spot Darrow sporting a yellow bow tied to his leash. The yellow bow indicates his apprehension towards meeting new people, following the guidelines of The Yellow Dog Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting safe interactions between dogs and humans.

As Darrow and his family embark on their neighborhood strolls, greet them warmly, respect Darrow's boundaries, and cherish their special bond.
