“Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3” (2023)

After spending nearly a decade with this group of space misfits, writer/director James Gunn brings their story to an end in “Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3”. In the aftermath of “Avengers: Endgame”, the Guardians continue to do their jobs and live as best as they can. When one of their own is injured, the group sets out on a mission to save him and discover more about his past while going up against a dangerous foe in the form of the High Evolutionary.
Aside from great action, effects, and music, there’s a real emotional core that’s prevalent throughout the story. The main characters each have their own personal struggles and issues that they’ve been dealing with, and this movie tackles them head-on. By the time the movie reaches its end all of their arcs are wrapped up in a way that feels satisfying and their journey is brought full circle.
While it may be a bit darker than its predecessors, it still has all the fun, humor, and heart that we associate with these films and this group. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry; what more can I say other than this being the perfect conclusion to a perfect trilogy. (Where to Stream: Disney+)
