Dr. Stacie Layne Virden founded Waco Vision Source with a simple belief: patients deserve clear answers, honest guidance, eyewear they love and eye care that protects beyond today’s prescription. While growing into one of Central Texas’ most trusted destinations for advanced, personal, and preventive vision care, their mission has remained beautifully simple: help patients see clearly, live comfortably, and Love How They See.
Dr. Virden’s path started in her small-town optometrist’s office after a serious contact lens complication as a teenager. She went on to earn her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry and became the first in Central Texas to be both an American Board of Optometry Diplomate and a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. In addition to her Waco practice, Dr. Virden teaches and consults nationwide.
While attending optometry school in Houston, she quickly realized she did not want to build a career as another face in a crowded city. She wanted to practice in a place where patients were neighbors, local service was personal, and a business could become part of the community it served. Dr. Virden and her husband, Ryan, chose Waco to call home. Through the Junior League of Waco and Leadership Waco, she built friendships and found meaningful ways to serve while connecting with the families and causes that make this community special. She served on the Board of Directors of the Animal Birth Control Clinic for a decade, and chaired the Food and Wine Festival twice for the Humane Society of Central Texas before spending time on their board. A fun fact is that her first local service project after moving to Waco was with Fuzzy Friends Rescue, a full-circle connection that now sits at the heart of Waco Vision Source’s 25th anniversary giving campaign.
Another interesting fact is that Ryan designed the lake and original phases at Twin Rivers. He worked as a Civil Engineer (A&M ’95) before joining the growing practice as business manager. Dr. Virden and Ryan love traveling and racing cars, but their son’s Scouting, music and soccer have them on a different road right now.

The practice grown in a way that reflects its community connections. Dr. Rebekah Sanders, a Baylor graduate, returned to Waco after completing optometry school with honors. As a child, she was fascinated with eyes and would try to wear her sister’s glasses, making optometry an obvious career path. Outside the office she can be found with her pets, plants, family or traveling.
Dr. Williamson
Having worn glasses since he was 12, Dr. Anthony Williamson followed his lifelong love of science and optics into a career in optometry. He and his wife also chose Waco as home after a stint in the Houston suburbs because she is a Baylor graduate and to build their lives in a community that felt meaningful to them. They have two children.
Together, the three doctors bring a rare combination of advanced training often only found in major cities. In a setting of warmth, relationships, and thoughtful care, Waco Vision Source offers far more than a quick glasses prescription. In addition to comprehensive eye exams, contact lenses, and eyewear, Drs. Sanders and Williamson use advanced imaging, dry eye care, and early intervention for both mature and pediatric care to help patients see clearly today while protecting their vision for the years ahead. Dr. Virden focuses on custom and medically necessary contact lenses.
