She Served Her Country—Now She Serves Her Community

Heather Green is a nurse practitioner with Vesper Medical Care serving the Waco community and surrounding areas as a dementia care specialist. She’s also an Air Force veteran who served for 22 years. Heather retired as the Air Force Consultant to the Surgeon General for Chronic Disease Management and a Subject Matter Expert in Development of Clinic Operations & Patient Centered Medical Home model of healthcare.
Heather began her career as an enlisted medic in 1996 and deployed to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 1999 to support Army Central Command. In Oct of 2001, she deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan as the first female medic in a combat zone after 9/11. She was selected for an officer commissioning program upon returning from that deployment and graduated from the University of Colorado with her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She says that the Air Force was very generous to her in affording her the opportunity to pursue her education while she served.
