Power Pilates of Waco
Why Waco is Choosing Pilates
Q: Nadya, how did your journey with Pilates begin?
I was a professional dancer for many years, and like a lot of dancers, I struggled with hip and back pain from all the intense training. I tried everything but nothing helped me the way Pilates did. It gave me strength, control, and real relief. Not even saying that it was fun! I knew right then that when I retired from dancing, this was what I wanted to do.
Q: What brought you to Waco?
I was born and raised in Russia. After years of performing and traveling, I met my husband Tommy, a Waco native. After graduating from Arizona State University, he wanted to return home to be close to his family and lifelong friends and to raise our family here. We moved to Waco in 2012, started our family, and I opened Power Pilates of Waco in 2014. It’s been home ever since.
Q: There are a lot of Pilates options popping up lately. What makes your studio different?
That’s a great question and it’s something I care deeply about! At Power Pilates, we teach real Pilates. We’re not a trendy fitness space with reformer machines for decoration. We stay rooted in the original Pilates method — intelligent, safe, and incredibly effective. With personalized attention in class, our clients feel the difference in their strength, posture, energy, flexibility and overall well-being.
Q: Who are your classes for?
Everyone! We work with women and men of all ages - from beginners to post-rehab clients, athletes, busy moms, and working professionals. I also work with teens and young dancers who want to build body awareness, core strength, and proper form early on.
Q: What’s your favorite part about owning a studio in Waco?
The people. Waco has an amazing community spirit. I’ve met so many strong, inspiring people through the studio. I’ve also had the honor of giving back through Dancing with the Waco Stars, which supports the Family Abuse Center. I danced as a pro in 2017, 2023, and 2024. It’s a cause I truly care about.
Q: How do you balance running a business with raising a family?
It’s a lot — I have three kids (8-year-old, 6-year-old and a 3-year-old!) and I understand what a full life looks like. That’s why I’ve built a studio that respects your time and delivers real results. I want clients to walk in, feel supported, work hard, and leave stronger — physically and mentally.
Q: What can someone expect when walking into your studio for the first time?
A warm welcome. A clean, calm space. Real instruction. And no judgment! Whether you’re dealing with pain, stress, or just want to feel better and stronger in your body, we meet you where you are and help you move forward.
