Meet Doug, the 6 Year Old Persian Cat!

Tell us where and why you got your pet?
We adopted Doug last year from Rags to Riches Pet Rescue in Tampa, Florida. Our other cat, Grouper, had passed away and our house felt so lonely without a cat bossing us around.

Is there a story behind his name?
We aren’t really sure but he just looked like a Doug to us.

Anything special or unusual about them (talents/quirks)?
The rescue told us Doug had “murder mittens” and must be the only cat in the house. Apparently, he doesn’t like other cats and would fight with them at the rescue. He never won a fight and needed to be in a home where he was the only cat. Other than his poor fighting record, Doug is pretty lazy. An occasional bird or lizard in the backyard and treats are about the only things that peek his interest.

What do you like best about your pet?
We love that even though Doug isn’t a lap cat (yet) and looks like he is disgruntled most of the time, he loves to be around us. He really likes to be a part of the family.

Any funny stories?
Doug is a bit of a bully to our poodle Bluey. If Doug thinks Bleuy is getting more attention than him, he gets these crazy eyes and runs after him. Doug doesn’t even swat Bleuy and the dog yipes. Then Doug just sits there looking so proud.

Tell us how spoiled they are :)
Well, within a couple of months of having Doug, we noticed one of his fangs had been chipped. We took him to the vet who told us he needed a root canal and cat crown. You can’t imagine how expensive a cat root canal is. We are now encouraging our children to become veterinarian dentists!

Tell us anything else you'd like included or find interesting about your pet:
We know Doug is really happy to be with our family and loves his home. However, he is very fond of our neighbor, Nicole. We can’t figure it out. His eyes sparkle and he’s on his best behavior whenever she comes over.
