Earth Day, Every Day: St. Petersburg Woman’s Club Supports The Environment
SPWC members attend the Boyd Hill Wildflower Program
Jennie Jamison, an enthusiastic and dedicated member of the St. Petersburg Woman’s Club, now chairs the Environment Community Service Program. Jennie Jamison brings a decade of volunteer service with Big Cat Rescue. For the last 3 years, she has been actively engaged in the SPWC book club, has been involved with fundraising efforts and supported the Health and Wellness CSP by introducing and leading Qi Gong sessions for three months.
The Environment committee with relevant expertise has engaged members in volunteering at Boyd Hill Raptor Fest, joining Boyd Hill Wildflower Walk and Tiny Wildlife programs at Weedon Island Preserve, participating with Keep Pinellas Beautiful Stewards of Urban Lakes cleaning up Mirror Lake, and volunteering at an archaeology lab.
SPWC Environment CSP aims to engage members in activities such as wildlife protection, litter cleanup, preserve support, saving endangered species, and planting native gardens. Upcoming events include a Sea Turtle Rehab Center at Apollo Beach in May, Tampa Bay Watch’s (VOG) Vertical Oyster Gardens restoration, and some cool nature programs led by rangers. With many new projects ahead, SPWC members have plenty of opportunities to learn, serve, and make a real difference in our community.
