My husband, daughter and I have lived in Arizona for two years. I grew up in New Bern, North Carolina, a small town best known for being the birthplace of Pepsi-Cola. There wasn’t much for kids to do in the area while I was growing up, but I had one thing nearby that I loved—water. I lived next to the Trent River and was only a 30-minute drive from Atlantic Beach. I spent my summers water skiing, tubing and taking day trips to the beach with my family. I am the youngest of three children; my older brother is Seth, and my older sister is Paige. To this day, my siblings are my best friends, and I couldn’t imagine life without their unwavering support. My father retired after serving as the Semper Fit Director for Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, where he dedicated himself to helping hundreds of Marines develop positive, healthy lifestyles and improve their combat readiness. Although he’s been retired for 10 years, he is still greatly loved and respected by his peers and former colleagues. As a child, I always knew I wanted to have a career where I could serve my community in an impactful way, just like my dad did.
Tell us about the events that led up to where you are now.
After graduating from high school, I attended a local college in my hometown. Once I finished my studies, I knew there was more out there for me to experience. My life motto is, “There is always another adventure around the corner.” While I loved being a part of my tiny historic community, having only ever lived in a small town made me complacent. I wanted to meet new people, immerse myself in different cultures, and discover my passion. This desire led me to move to East Glacier, Montana. It was a freeing experience. I met people from various parts of the world, was overwhelmed by the stunning beauty of the mountains, and experienced significant personal growth. After working at the East Glacier Lodge for the summer, I realized my journey wasn’t over. The following winter, I moved to Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and worked at a resort there. I was fortunate enough to meet my incredible husband, who worked as a ski lift operator on the mountain. We were both on the same path of self-discovery, which inspired us to continue our adventures together by working at a dude ranch in Clark, Colorado
Working at these beautiful places and meeting extraordinary people made me realize that I wanted to turn my experiences of working with individuals from diverse walks of life into a career. My first thought was relationship banking. After my husband and I got married, we settled down in Fort Collins, Colorado, where we welcomed our beautiful daughter, Gracelyn. Seven years later, I have held multiple roles at various institutions, including large banks and smaller credit unions. Nothing fuels me more than creating meaningful relationships with my customers and helping them achieve financial success. When my husband and I decided to make Arizona our new forever home a couple of years ago, I was driving through Gilbert when I came across a beautifully built bank. I walked in and met Unison Bank’s Arizona Market President & CCO, Sharon Miller, and VP Operations & Branch Manager, Nadine Easton. After meeting these two strong female leaders, I knew I had to work there.
