Travisso Mountain Biker

Julio Olvera

What's not to love?

After ten days of COVID-19 lockdown in March 2020, Julio Olvera was going a little stir crazy. Being used to working long hours, client lunches and social events in the evening, Julio needed a safe way to leave the house and burn off some of his energy. He spotted his old mountain bike in the garage and decided to take it for a spin with his daughters that evening. The very next morning, Julio began his mountain bike journey and hasn’t looked back since.

While he may have been safe from COVID-19 riding his bike on the Travisso trails, he wasn’t immune to injuries. After three trips to the emergency room and his wife threatening him with divorce, Julio traded in his old bicycle for a more appropriate mountain bike and started riding with some pros who offered some great tips for riding the trails without injury.

Armed with his new bike, Julio began taking on new challenging trails around the Austin area. He also participated in a fundraising event for St. Jude’s and rode 50 miles in one day. Julio has since gone on mountain biking excursions in Cabo San Lucas, San Miguel de Allende, Mexico and Bentonville, Arkansas.

While Julio loves traveling and going on bike excursions, he says nothing compares to waking up, hopping on his bike, riding the trails of Travisso and being back home, showered and at work in his home office by 9 a.m. Other than the physical aspect of mountain biking, Julio enjoys meeting new people and socializing with his fellow mountain biking friends and neighbors. Julio also enjoys introducing mountain biking to his friends and tries to get everyone involved. Julio is an active member of several mountain biking groups in Austin and the Travisso Mountain Biking Group.

Julio and other neighbors can be found practically every morning on the trails of Travisso. If you would like to join the Travisso Mountain Bikers, show up on the trail and introduce yourself, or you can contact Julio for more information at julio@olverabolton.com. Happy riding!
