HURRICANE SEASON - BE PREPARED!

As hurricane season approaches, preparation is key for safety and peace of mind. Hurricanes can bring heavy rain, high winds, flooding, and power outages. Having a solid plan and the right supplies can make a significant difference in how you and your family weather the storm.

First and foremost, familiarize yourself with the evacuation route. If the worst happens and you get separated from your family, have a designated meeting location. Have your important documents ready to grab in a weatherproof container if you need to leave quickly.

Equally essential is assembling a stocked emergency supply kit. Please make sure you gather supplies well before a storm forecast to avoid last-minute shortages or price hikes.

Hurricane Emergency Supply Checklist:

  • Water: At least one gallon per person per day. Filling a bathtub and/or reusable water bottles is always a smart move.
  • Non-perishable food (canned goods high in protein, granola bars, peanut butter)
  • Manual can opener
  • Flashlights
  • Batteries
  • Portable Cell phone chargers
  • First aid kit and necessary medications
  • Personal hygiene items and sanitation supplies
  • Cash
  • Pet supplies (food, water, medications)
  • Fuel for generators and a full tank of gas in your car
  • Battery Powered Fan(s)
Preparing early and having a plan can not only reduce your stress but will also save you time and money. Review your plan and supplies regularly to ensure you are properly stocked with in-date items. Lastly, ensure that everyone in your household knows what to do in the event of an emergency. Being ready will make a difference when a storm hits!

Stay safe, everyone!
