LIFE THROUGH THE LENS OF ADVENTURE

Meet Alex, Paul, Wesley & Maddox!

Alex and Paul Fulda have lived on SW 132nd Terrace for six years with their children, Wesley (6) and Maddox (2). The Fuldas love their pet chickens, their cat, Nelson, and the life they’ve built that prioritizes family and adventure!

Paul was born and raised in London, England, while Alex is a Gainesville native. The two met at Tall Paul’s in Gainesville when Paul was a postdoc at the University of Florida, and Alex was a student there. Paul attended the University of Birmingham in the UK before moving to Florida. He’s now a physics professor at UF, studying gravitational waves from colliding black holes. Paul is passionate about soccer and enjoys playing the guitar.

Alex loves running, gardening, and photography. You may recognize her as she is often out and about photographing families around the neighborhood. She began taking photos at 17 when she received her first camera from her Grandfather.  Alex shared, “She loves how photography allows us to express creativity and see the world from different perspectives.  It’s a powerful medium for storytelling, capturing emotions, and preserving moments that might otherwise be forgotten.”

While Alex loves photography, she also has degrees in environmental sciences and is interested in pursuing both. She sees opportunities to combine them, photographing nature and raising awareness about environmental issues through her work.   She would love to photograph a Safari trip at some point.

Wesley and Maddox keep Alex and Paul on their toes. Wesley does Jiu-jitsu, and Maddox loves his music class at Tonewood. Their favorite aspect of living in the neighborhood is their sense of community with other families. They enjoy stepping outside to see friends and watch the kids play together. Summer days are even better with trips to the pool, and they cherish their daily family walks along the esplanade. While they love Tioga, they also love their Sunday dinner tradition at Alex's parents' house in Alachua.

Alex and Paul spend their free time hiking, traveling, and exploring Europe as well as our beautiful National Parks here in the United States. On the weekends, they often hike one of the local trails – the La Chua trail or the San Felasco Hammock. Their favorite place to vacation is Yosemite National Park, and they’ve been going on hiking and camping trips for years. Alex and Paul love stargazing at the top of Glacier Point or walking to one of the beautiful waterfalls. Another favorite spot is Iceland for the hiking and breathtaking scenery.

Beyond travel, the Fuldas are a foodie family. They have a few favorite local restaurants, including Alpin Bistro, Capricious, and Goldie's Burgers. They enjoy taking the kids to Depot Park for a family picnic, where the boys can run around and they can go for family walks.

Look for Alex’s photography each month in your Stroll Town of Tioga magazine. All families or residents in Stroll Town of Tioga’s ‘Meet Your Neighbor’ feature can work with Alex and receive complimentary photos. Regarding her 'Resident Photographer' role at Stroll, Alex said, “Each issue feels like a new opportunity to connect with the community and highlight the unique moments in their lives.”
