180 Construction: Building Success Through Craftsmanship and Determination

Jaime Ramos, the founder of 180 Construction, built his business on hard work, self-learning, and a passion for quality craftsmanship. His journey into the world of construction began in 2017, working with professional investors to flip homes. However, when his primary clients relocated to Florida, Jaime found himself without work and faced the daunting task of rebuilding his business from the ground up.
In the early days, Jaime turned to friends for projects. But he quickly realized that while friends are supportive, they often provide positive feedback without offering constructive criticism. To truly grow, he needed to step outside of his comfort zone. “Friends always tell you that you’re doing a good job, but I needed to work with new clients to really know where I stood,” Jaime explains. This push led him to find customers outside his circle, forming relationships with homeowners who valued his work and trusted him with ongoing projects.
Over the years, many of these clients have become loyal customers, repeatedly calling Jaime back for new projects. Some trust him so completely that they leave on vacation, confident they’ll return to a beautifully finished home improvement. It’s this kind of trust and reliability that has set 180 Construction apart from others in the industry.
However, Jaime’s success didn’t come without challenges. As he gained more customers, he faced another hurdle—losing workers. When tradesmen left, Jaime had to step in and fill their shoes. “At first, we needed customers, and then when we had customers, we didn’t have workers,” he recalls. With no other option, Jaime took on the work himself, starting with painting and eventually learning a wide range of trades.
His journey into carpentry began when a carpenter didn’t show up for a week. Instead of delaying the project, Jaime decided to learn how to do it himself. “I didn’t want to let the customer down,” he says. He taught himself how to do carpentry, trim, doors, and detailed kitchen work. His natural drive to learn and improve allowed him to master each new challenge.
Jaime’s passion for self-education didn’t stop there. He sought out mentors to further develop his skills, offering to work for free just to learn from them. One mentor recognized Jaime’s dedication and insisted on paying him, seeing the value in Jaime’s drive to succeed. “If you like something, just pay attention to what the best are doing,” Jaime advises.
Now, with years of hands-on experience, Jaime offers not just craftsmanship but also expertise and insight into the construction industry. His advice to homeowners is simple: don’t choose contractors based solely on the lowest price. “Your home is your most valuable asset. Don’t cut corners. The cheapest price isn’t always the best deal in the long run,” he says. Quality work comes with a price, and it’s an investment that will pay off over time.
