Sugaring NYC South Elgin: Where Beauty Meets Family and Community

Tucked just behind the tree-lined section of Thornwood Avenue off Randall Road, Sugaring
NYC of South Elgin can be hard to miss from the road but even harder to forget as soon as you
step inside with its beautiful pink interior. This all-organic sugaring salon, owned by Kaylee
Wells and Jonte Wells, is more than a place to get silky-smooth skin. It’s a warm, welcoming
space built on family values, a commitment to community, and a vision for empowerment
through self-care.
Kaylee and Jonte opened the first Sugaring NYC franchise in Lincoln Park, Chicago in June
2020, becoming the second franchisee in the growing nationwide brand. Launching during the
pandemic was no easy feat, but their belief in the mission—to create a space where everyone
feels beautiful, supported, and seen—helped them grow quickly. Just six months later, Kaylee
and Jonte opened a second location in South Elgin. Today, they operate a total of eight Sugaring
NYC locations across Chicagoland.
What makes the South Elgin location especially meaningful is that it’s truly a family-run
business. Kaylee and Jonte are hands-on owners, often working onsite and engaging with clients
and team members daily. The South Elgin location is managed by Quita, Jonte’s sister, and
another of his sisters, Natasha, works at their downtown Chicago locations. Their two young
children, Peyton and Dreyden, can often be found visiting the salon, sneaking a treat from the
candy jar at reception. For clients, it’s a beautiful glimpse into a business powered by love and
built with intention.
Sugaring NYC South Elgin offers full-body sugaring, lash lifts and tints, brow laminations,
V-facials (yes, a facial for the bikini area), and professional teeth whitening. Their sugaring
technique uses an organic paste made of just sugar, water, and lemon juice—so natural you
could eat it! Unlike traditional waxing, their method removes hair in the direction of growth,
which helps minimize irritation and ingrown hairs. Many clients say it’s less painful and
provides longer-lasting results compared to traditional waxing.
The services are just part of the story. “We wanted to create more than just a salon,” says Kaylee. “We set out to build a space where clients feel confident and cared for, while also empowering our team. Self-care is for everyone, and we’re here to make people feel good, inside and out.”
That mindset shows in everything they do—from their inclusive, judgment-free atmosphere to
their investment in local community groups and schools. The team frequently donates raffle
prizes, participates in local events, and looks for ways to give back. They are open seven days a
week, always ready to welcome a new face or support a neighbor’s cause.
“We’ve had our challenges, but what keeps us going is our team and our clients,” Kaylee shares.
“The people who show up every day, put their best foot forward, and bring good energy—they
are the heart of this place.”
If you’re still shaving, tired of razor burn, or looking for something that’s both gentler and more
more effective than waxing—it’s time to come get sugared. Summer is here, and your smoothest skin yet is waiting.
