Veteran-Owned, Community-Focused: Meet the Mobley Family of Excel Automotive Repair

There’s something reassuring about a business that feels more like family—and that’s exactly what you’ll find when you step into Excel Automotive Repair in St. Charles. Founded by United States Marine Corps Veteran Minor Mobley and his wife Jennifer, Excel is more than a repair shop. It’s a family-run business built on a mission to earn trust, serve the community, and connect personally with every client who walks through the door.
Minor and Jennifer Mobley have been married for 22 years, raising two wonderful children—Ethan (17) and Niccy (15)—and sharing their home with two loyal dogs, Duke and Molly, two cats, Toby and Sadie, and a horse named Axle. Life at the Mobley home is full, grounded, and centered around simple joys like family, time spent at home, and the occasional road trip to places like Folly Beach, NC, Tennessee, or Gulf Shores.
For the past 11 years, Excel Automotive has taken a clear stance: Trust is earned, never given. That’s why every part is backed with a 36-month or 36,000-mile warranty. The shop offers a full range of services—from oil changes and tune-ups to suspension repairs and alignments—while making vehicle maintenance more transparent and less intimidating for everyday drivers.
“Auto repair doesn’t have to be confusing or inconvenient,” Minor shares. “We’re streamlining things to make life easier for our clients—text and email updates, digital reminders, and a clearer understanding of the importance of routine maintenance.”
The Mobleys are committed to helping others and that doesn’t end at the automotive shop. They are the proud founders of Big Hearts of Fox Valley, a local nonprofit supporting D303 children and families facing financial hardships. They offer several core programs that provide essentials that help children thrive.
As prices rise across the board, the team at Excel remains focused on keeping service affordable without sacrificing quality. “Delaying car repairs might seem smart at the moment,” Minor explains, “but it often leads to more costly problems. We want our clients to understand what’s needed and why—so they feel confident and respected every step of the way.”
