Hugo Spritz
Move over, Aperol. There's a new aperitif turning heads at backyard gatherings, bars, and summer soirees: Hugo Spritz.
Originating in the Alpine region of northern Italy in 2005, the Hugo combines prosecco, elderflower liqueur, sparkling water, fresh mint, and lime. The result is a crisp, floral cocktail that is lighter and less bitter than its orange-colored cousin.
Whether you're relaxing on the patio or hosting friends for dinner, Hugo Spritz may be the season's most welcome newcomer--the new kid in town that's quickly becoming everyone's friend.
4 oz. prosecco
1 oz. St. Germain liqueur
1 oz. club soda or sparkling water
Few fresh mint leaves
Slice of lime or lemon
Ice
Add the St. Germain liqueur to a large wine glass and muddle the mint leaves to release their natural oil. Add the Prosecco, sparkling water and ice. Stir gently and garnish with an additional sprig of mint and lime wheel.
