Renoir “Reny” Grainger

Meet Renoir “Reny” Grainger, a 5½ year-old male French Bulldog with a big personality, endless charm, and a deep love for shredding cardboard. Reny lives with Holley, Brent, Ellie, and Frances, in a home full of laughter, activity, and a truly impressive collection of squeaky toys. The Graingers have called The Preserve home for almost nine years and adore this community.

The story of how Reny joined the family could practically be a romantic comedy. Six months after their beloved English Bulldog, Winston, passed away, Holley and Brent went to France for their 10th wedding anniversary. Brent had sworn he wasn’t ready for another dog - until a few Parisian Frenchies worked their charm. He casually mentioned that it might be fun to have one someday. That was all Holley needed to hear. Two months later, Reny was home.

True to their naming tradition (past pups included Thatcher the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Winston the English Bulldog), the Graingers were set on a French name. After tossing around options like Baguette, Fondue, Bleu, Louis, and Beignet, “Renoir” emerged the winner – elegant, French, and fitting for a dog with plenty of personality.

Reny’s resume includes some very specific skills. First and foremost, he’s a world-class cardboard shredder. Furniture? Safe. Shoes? Meh. But a cardboard box? Consider it confetti before you can say “two-day shipping.” His talents also include managing his humans with expert precision: barking at the sink for fresh water, pawing at the car window to have it rolled down, staring at the laundry room for warm towels when the dryer buzzes, and instantly claiming any available lap.

Reny’s toy box overflows with squeaky animal “babies” including monkeys, penguins, sloths, chipmunks, hippos, and farm animals. He’s not picky about who he plays with, as long as there is a squeaker to chase and stuffing to tear out.

At home, Reny shares the spotlight with Bean, the family’s Leopard Gecko, who’s about the size of one of Reny’s toys. Reny especially loves visiting Petco to restock Bean’s cricket supply.

Whether he’s playing with Angel and Griffie in the DiSalvo’s yard, pulling his mom or sisters down the street, or turning cardboard into art, Reny brings laughter, love, and plenty of playful moments to the Grainger’s life in The Preserve. Life is never boring with Reny around - and that’s just the way he likes it.
