Where did you grow up? How long have you lived in the area? Tell us about your family.
Roger grew up in Norman, AR, and Amy grew up in Colorado and Southern Utah. In 2015 we found each other and then moved to Arkansas in 2016. We have been here ever since. We are currently living in Hot Springs Village and love it. We have a blended family of six kids and a fur baby.
Tell us about the events that led up to where you are now.
Roger was a truck driver for 14 years. He worked mainly in Colorado on a mountain run that took him high into the Rockies. In 2017, he took a trucking gig that took him and Amy over the road for two years, covering most of the lower 48 states. Amy was a C-MA for 13 years, specializing in family practice, pain management, diabetes management, and cardiac health. She retired in 2017 to join Roger over the road.
What is your business and how/why did you start your business?
We own Your CBD Store Hot Springs and Your CBD Store Hot Springs Village. On July 13, 2019, we walked into Your CBD Store Lake City. I have suffered from anxiety nearly my entire life. I was misdiagnosed many times, and I had been studying CBD for a couple of years. I just wanted something that would allow me to get rid of the anxiety but still function normally without side effects. Roger was suffering from shoulder pain due to driving a truck. We took a few samples and bought a couple of items. The next morning, I knew instantly my life had changed forever. We put customers first, and that is our motto…"customers first." Needless to say, three months later, we opened our Hot Springs Village location, and a year later we opened Hot Springs.
What makes your business distinctive, what sets you apart from the rest in your industry?
Your CBD Store only carries one brand and that brand is SunMed. SunMed is a plant science company that is leading the industry in hemp-based products. From nanotechnology to third-party testing we rise above the competition in every way. We are USDA-certified soil to oil. Most of our products are vegan and gluten-free. SunMed had won four awards from Entrepreneur Magazine, four awards from CBD EXPO 2019 and we are currently number two in the world as far as our brand goes.
Given your expertise and the nature of what you do, what advice (whether general or specific) can you offer to the residents?
When it comes to buying hemp products, know your source. Understand where your hemp is derived, the USA or overseas. Every bottle should contain a QR code that takes you to an up-to-date lab report from a third-party lab company. Pet products should not contain any form of THC as it’s toxic to pets. Knowing the difference between isolate, broad-spectrum, full-spectrum, and fuller spectrum will help you determine what product will be best for you. Did you know that without a gallbladder you only retain about 3-5% of the hemp tincture oil? Knowledge is power and we pride ourselves on education and helping find the right products for our customers through samples.
