Turn the Page to Summer

A Neighborhood Night to Remember: The Lakes Turns the Page to Summer

What better way to kick off summer than with neighbors, stories, and a little sprinkle of fun? Stroll the Lakes hosted the first-ever Turn the Page to Summer event—and even with a few light showers at the beginning and end, the evening was a big success!
Over 140 Lakes residents and friends showed up to celebrate together, and the sense of community was felt in every detail. With generous sponsorship from T&J, the event supported a fantastic cause: 358 books were donated to Books for Better MN, helping get books into the hands of local kids who need them. It was a heartwarming reminder of how generous and thoughtful this neighborhood truly is.
Throughout the evening, more than 170 servings of ice cream and coffee were enjoyed by attendees of all ages. Bee & Blossom’s charcuterie samples were a hit—beautiful, delicious, and quickly devoured! Trivia hosted by Foundation Christian Academy brought out some friendly competition, with families teaming up to test their knowledge.
One of the most talked-about activities was the fastball challenge from The Expert Co.—participants tested their pitch by aiming directly at metal roofing shingles in a fun and unexpected twist. Archstone handed out candy with big smiles, AKASPORT had awesome goodies to grab, and Tommy’s Express Car Wash kept the crowd spinning (and winning) with their candy-filled prize wheel.
The event was packed with fun for the little ones, too. A talented face painter transformed kids into colorful creatures and superheroes, while a magician moved through the crowd performing tricks that left everyone amazed. A special storytime moment featured The Lakes’ own Cam and Finn, who proudly read books aloud to a circle of happy listeners. It was a sweet, full-circle reminder of what the evening was all about—community, connection, and a shared love of books.
The evening was emceed by Rachel from Pebblebrook, whose warm energy and easy style helped the whole night run smoothly. She made sure everyone felt welcome and kept the vibe light and fun from start to finish.
While the weather gave us a little drizzle to start and wrap things up, the skies stayed clear for the heart of the event. In true Minnesota fashion, it added just enough drama to make the night even more memorable.
Thanks to everyone who came out, donated books, volunteered, and made the evening what it was. Turn the Page to Summer reminded us that it doesn’t take much to bring people together—just a few good stories, some shared snacks, and the kind of community spirit we’re lucky to have here in The Lakes.
We can’t wait to see you at the next event in October!
