Lilly Dorsey: Fueled by Faith, Friendship, and Fierce Determination

At just 13 years old, Bella Ranch’s rising star Lilly Dorsey balances school, sports, and Big Dreams as a triple-threat athlete at Aledo Middle School while learning the power of perseverance, strong mentorship, and always giving her best.

Recently wrapping up 7th grade at Aledo Middle School and looking forward to starting 8th grade in August, Lilly Dorsey is a well-rounded student-athlete who keeps a packed schedule and a positive attitude. A triple-threat athlete, she is already making waves at AMS through her talent, determination, and heart for both sports and friendships.

The Dorseys, Dodd and Melisa, older brother Wyatt, and Lilly moved to Bella Ranch four years ago. Lilly cherishes living in this community because of the close-knit friendships their family has developed. “We have so many friends nearby—it makes hanging out and even carpooling really fun,” she says.

All-Star Athlete in the Making
Lilly’s athletic life is nothing short of impressive. She is a member of the AMS cheer squad, plays on the basketball team, and competes in track, specializing in the 300-meter hurdles. Her journey into sports began early. “I started cheering in 4th grade because it looked fun,” she recalls. Basketball came a little earlier, in second grade, albeit with a gentle nudge from her dad. “He made me do it—haha!” she laughs.

Milestones and Motivation
One of Lilly’s standout achievements this year was shaving a full five seconds off her 300-meter hurdle time—a testament to her hard work and persistence. Another proud moment was earning a spot on the middle school cheer squad. In cheer, she looks up to La’Mya Jackson, whom she describes as “really talented” and inspiring.

When asked about the biggest lesson she’s learned from sports, Lilly doesn’t hesitate: “What you want takes hard work.” She credits Coach Fry with being a pivotal figure in her track career, especially during the early days of running the hurdles. “She gave me a lot of encouragement when I was nervous,” Lilly shares gratefully.

Dreaming Big
Balancing academics and athletics is no easy feat, but Lilly has learned how to manage it with maturity well beyond her 13 years. Her secret? Building strong relationships with her teachers and not being afraid to ask for help. This approach ensures she can excel in both the classroom and on the field.

Looking ahead, Lilly’s goals are crystal clear and this approach will serve her well. She’s determined to make the high school cheer team and has her sights set on cheering at the college level one day. With her dedication, these dreams seem well within reach.

Words to Live By
Lilly also has some words of wisdom for other young athletes in the neighborhood: “Do your best and God will do the rest.” It's a simple yet powerful message from a young athlete who exemplifies commitment, resilience, and faith. Keep an eye on Lilly Dorsey—she’s one of Bella Ranch’s brightest young talents, and her story is just beginning.
