Meet Denali!

Denali came to Columbus Dog Connection as a stray alongside her brother, Camden, after being transferred from an overburdened rural shelter. At just 2 years old and around 38 pounds, she’s a petite pup with an impressive vertical—this girl can jump!

Denali is incredibly smart and is quickly picking up basic obedience skills. While she does have a high energy level—thanks to her young age and limited early training—she also has a wonderfully affectionate side. After a good walk, play session, or yard time, Denali is more than happy to settle in for calm snuggles and quiet companionship.

Due to a shortage of foster homes, Denali spent much of her early time in boarding and shelter environments. She has since been in a foster home for a while now and has shown just how much she can relax and flourish in a home setting. With structure, consistency, and love, her calmer side really shines.

Because of her extended time in shelters, Denali has developed an aversion to crating. While she’s making progress using a high-impact crate, she is happiest in a home where someone works from home or is around for most of the day. She does well when crated for shorter periods—generally under six hours—and continues to improve with training.

Denali has lived in a foster home with cats and can coexist successfully, though her bursts of playful energy mean she’d do best with cat-savvy adopters whose cats are comfortable around active dogs. She also does well with other dogs and truly thrives in homes where she has canine companions and a yard to run, play, and burn off energy. Her high-energy moments are short-lived and always followed by sweet, calm cuddle time.

Denali is a joyful, intelligent, and loving dog who just needs the right environment to truly blossom. With patience, consistency, and plenty of playtime, she’ll make a wonderful, devoted companion.
