Founded by Tess Bailey and  Mayra Mejia, TeMa was built on a shared vision to create a luxury hair experience that  prioritizes both beauty and well-being. 

The two met while working together and quickly realized they had the same goals, work ethic,  and passion for their craft. Tess began her journey in cosmetology school right out of high school  and has been immersed in the industry ever since, always focused on learning and growing.  Mayra knew from just 14 years old that she wanted to be a hairstylist, spending years in the  beauty industry before attending cosmetology school and fully stepping into her career. With  over 15 years of combined experience, they opened TeMa Hair Artistry in June 2024, bringing  their vision to life in a way that feels both elevated and personal. 

What sets TeMa apart is its commitment to clean beauty without compromising results. The  salon exclusively uses organic and non-toxic color products, something Tess and Mayra noticed  was missing in Albuquerque. Their goal was to create a space that feels as good as it looks, one  that is relaxing, inviting, and thoughtfully designed for both the client and the stylist. 

Clients can expect a fully personalized experience, whether they’re coming in for a custom color,  a tailored cut, or transformative extension services. Every appointment is designed with intention  so each client leaves feeling like an elevated version of themselves.

Tess and Mayra handle  everything themselves, from booking appointments to making sure every client feels comfortable  throughout their visit.
