The Attorney in the Hat!

Injury trial attorney Leland Malchow enjoyed reading Dr. Suess books as a child, to his children, and now his grandchildren. It is only natural that he loves reading the books as part of the Rotary Club of Augusta’s participation in the Read Across America Celebration of Dr. Suess’ birthday each year on March 2nd.
Leland’s favorite Dr. Suess books include “The Cat in the Hat”, “Green Eggs and Ham”, “Hop on Pop”, “Fox in Socks”, and “Go Dog Go”.
Leland, along with other Rotary Club Members have read to students at W.S. Hornsby Elementary School, Wilkinson Gardens Elementary School, and on a remote video during COVID.
The highlight of his celebration of Dr. Suess’ birthday this year was reading to his grandson Michael’s preschool class at The Heritage Academy’s Early Learning Center.
After a friend and great local poet, Levi Hill, saw pictures of Leland on social media, he penned the following poem:
Att. (Attorney) in the Hat
By Levi Hill

I cannot, should not,
Will not fall
Or drive my car into a wall

I will not slip
Down to the ground
But if I do
See what I found

I found this man
Who wears a hat
And keeps an eye
On where you’re at

 And if you need him
He is there
This man is darn near
 Everywhere

He’s in a car
He’s in a bar
He’s on the tee
With you and me

Taking care
Of all our needs
Settling claims
At lightning speed
