April’s Bourbon Night: Good Pours, Great Company, and a New Tradition

Every month, about 45 men from Sugar Mill Pond gather for Bourbon Night—a chance to hang out, try some new bottles, and enjoy good food with great neighbors. April’s event was hosted at Jason Charrier’s home with Dwayne Lalande as cohost, and the duo delivered big. Dwayne served up his now-famous Kentucky hot brown sliders (a crowd favorite), and the group got to sample different bourbons, each handpicked by the cohosts. Cannon, a local bourbon blogger, even dropped by to share tasting notes and a few good stories.
This month also marked the start of a new tradition: Dwayne introduced a bourbon barrel from Lafayette distiller Cajun Cut—ready to be filled with the evening’s selected bourbons so everyone could pour straight from the source. With solid drinks, a relaxed vibe, and a bunch of guys just enjoying the evening, April’s Bourbon Night was another one for the books.
