Can you briefly introduce yourselves?
We’re Trenton White and Michael Mathews. Originally from Birmingham, Alabama, we relocated to Lafayette in 2018. When we’re not creating stunning designs or teaching others how to craft their own unique pieces, you can usually find us camping in the woods—RV style!

What inspired you to start your business? Can you walk us through how it all began?
We were both settled in our careers back in Alabama—Trenton as an art and design teacher at a magnet school, and Michael with BMW after twenty years in the retail side of the car business. In 2018, Michael’s new career brought us to Lafayette, Louisiana—a town we had never even stepped foot in until moving day. Trenton taught at several schools here, but none compared to the incredible program he left behind, and eventually he decided to step away from teaching. Already a natural creative, he began making wreaths and garlands on Facebook Live, and White Bayou Creations was born. His crafty talent quickly gained traction online, and by late 2019, Michael joined in on the lives, making the audience grow even more. Customers kept asking where our supplies came from, so we decided to start selling them. We lasted only three months in our garage before moving into a 1,500 sq. ft. warehouse with a 36-month lease—a scary leap at the time! But just 18 months later, we had outgrown that space and purchased our current 7,000+ sq. ft. location. We’ve never looked back, and we truly love every minute of this journey.
