Wine, Golf, and Golden Views in Napa Valley

Julie and Joey Angers share their unforgettable escape to Silverado Resort in Napa.

Neighbors Julie and Joey Angers recently traded the Louisiana heat for the rolling hills of Napa Valley, California, where they spent a few unforgettable days soaking in good wine, good golf, and even better company.

Joined by their longtime friends Cathy and Keith Broussard, the Angers made their home base at the Silverado Resort, a picturesque property that perfectly blends relaxation with a touch of luxury. The men spent their mornings on the Silverado Golf Courses, a Troon-managed gem also accessible through Le Triomphe, while the group’s afternoons were filled with vineyard adventures and breathtaking views.

One of the highlights was the Napa Valley Wine Train, a scenic journey from Napa to Calistoga complete with a gourmet lunch and expertly paired wines. They also discovered hidden gems like Tom Eddy Winery, where they enjoyed an intimate cave tasting, and Progeny Winery on Mt. Veeder, where a private wine and food pairing stole the show. Their trip wrapped up with a gondola ride to Sterling Vineyards, where panoramic valley views made the final tasting even sweeter.

Julie and Joey said one of their favorite parts of the trip was simply being on the Silverado property, enjoying dinner at the grill, cozying up by the fire pit at night, and taking full advantage of the resort’s easygoing elegance.

Their advice for anyone heading to Napa? Stay on the Silverado grounds for its convenience and charm, and don’t stress about choosing the “perfect” winery—you can’t go wrong with any of them. For a memorable dinner, they highly recommend Napaat Scala Osteria for authentic Italian and Cordeiros Steakhouse for a classic Napa indulgence.

It was a trip full of laughter, flavor, and friendship, one they’ll be talking about for years to come.
