A Doctor, a Coach, and a Mom: Dr. G’s Holistic Approach to Pediatric Health

If the children are our future, then our own Dr. G is making sure that future is bright. In her
pediatric practice, Kidstrong Medical Group, Dr. G prioritizes the whole health of our kids. She
is a doctor and a life coach. She is a mom, a wife, a daughter, and she is an assistant professor.
“We spend a lot of time educating patients, child and parent, so that they have the tools to
understand their child’s health journey,” she said. In Dr. G’s view, societal trends in both
parenting and technology have dramatically changed the Pediatric landscape. Dr. G has seen this
impact on kids when it comes to the internet and social media and what she describes as a
“disconnect in normal socialization.”

As a parent and doctor, Dr. G makes it a priority to counteract this phenomenon. She takes her
approach from her mother, a field hockey champion in India who played on the national team.
“My mom is awesome. She raised us with the same mentality she developed while playing.” Dr.
G believes sports are key to a well-rounded child: “Sports are a metaphor for life. The one last
truth that children have. Sports don’t lie to you. If you don’t practice, you won’t play well. You
can’t ChatGPT a game result. There is nothing like an athlete’s mentality.”

Dr. G embodies tough love. Her advice comes from a place of caring. “My purpose is to act as a
medical extension of the family. My goal is to treat the whole child…The schools and teachers
have their part, parents have their part, the medical community has their part, too.” For Dr. G, it
really does take a village.

Like all of the ladies in our spotlight this month, Dr. G knows that life balance is important.
Being a mom never ends, she acknowledges, yet women should also pursue their individual
dreams. “Every woman has different priorities at different stages of life,” she said, “find the mix
that’s right for you”. Dr. G talked about her own fortuitous decision to take over the pediatric
business of a woman who was retiring. “Trust the process. You’ll be where you’re supposed to
be as long as you are open to it and are willing to work hard.”

Her approach to life comes from the conviction of the necessity to set and achieve goals. Her
advice to anyone: “Everything starts with a goal. Your goal is your anchor to your future.
Achieve that goal, and there’s always a next goal. This gives you a zest for life.” She adds: “Let
Your spirit guides you. Learn to listen to your own gut. People will always tell you what they
think, but life will guide you if you’re open to the signs.”
