Paco & Ben: Small Pups, Giant Personalities
From Halloween costumes to cucumber snacks, this dynamic chihuahua duo has won hearts with their charm, quirks, and endless cuddles.

For over two decades, the Kim family has made the most of neighborhood life, surrounded by lush green spaces and the tranquility of nature. But in recent years, it’s their two small but mighty pups—Ben and Paco—who have brought an extra dose of joy, laughter, and love to their home.
Ben and Paco are five-year-old chihuahuas, each with a distinct personality that keeps their family endlessly entertained. Though they share a breed, they couldn’t be more different in temperament. Paco, the confident diva, relishes attention and demands only the fluffiest of blankets, while Ben, a sweet and snuggly companion, also known as a "velcro pup", is happiest when curled up in a warm lap.
The pups joined the family four years ago when their favorite human, Rebecca, was attending graduate school in Austin, Texas. “I adopted both of them while I was there, and they’ve been by my side ever since,” Rebecca shares. And while it’s easy to fall for any dog, it’s clear these two have a little extra charm.
Ben earned his name thanks to his wise, soulful eyes, reminiscent of the title character from The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. “He looked like a tiny old man as a puppy,” they laugh. Paco, on the other hand, has the striking appearance of a classic chihuahua. “We chose ‘Paco’ to celebrate his Mexican roots. It suits him perfectly.”
True to their breed, both dogs are alert and fiercely loyal. They may bark to protect their turf, but beneath that tough exterior are two little lovebugs who have fully claimed their place in the family. Paco’s regal tendencies keep everyone on their toes, especially when it comes to his plush blanket arrangements. “He’ll sit, stare, and even paw at you until you fluff his bedding to his satisfaction,” Rebecca shares. Meanwhile, Ben simply wants to be as physically close as possible to his humans, always finding a lap to burrow into, no matter the situation (hence his velcro-pup designated status).
Their quirks don’t stop there. Ben has a surprising snack of choice: cucumbers. “He’ll come running when he hears the veggie drawer open.” Paco’s passion lies in his collection of squeaky toys, which he proudly parades around the house, and using the furniture within the Kim house as a parkour course. When Halloween rolls around, both dogs are game for dressing up. “My favorite memory is when we dressed them as hippies with matching wigs. It was too perfect—and they actually seemed to enjoy the costumes!”
On a typical day, Ben and Paco enjoy strolling through the neighborhood, sniffing every blade of grass and shrub in sight. They may be small, but they don’t miss a thing. “They absolutely love their walks and take their time exploring every scent.”
While there are no particular dog parks or businesses they frequent, the pair is more than content exploring the quiet streets and scenic spots close to home. As for dream adventures, Ben would likely skip the travel altogether in favor of a long nap under the covers. Paco, in contrast, would be first in line for a spa day, preferably one with massages, gourmet treats, and a personal attendant.
Together, Ben and Paco bring joy and personality to every corner of their home and beyond. They may be little, but their presence in the neighborhood is anything but small.
