BRITTON FALLS MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL

Bob Wilson, Year Two League Champion, with the Britton Falls Baseball Fantasy League Plaque.

ONLINE SPORTS GROUP

Britton Falls Fantasy Baseball started in 2021 when Will Weaver wanted to expand Online Sports Group to give residents another activity during the pandemic. Together he and Renee Sherman set up the first league, using the "Roto" format. Renee, a Cincy Reds fan, agreed to be the first Commissioner and served for two years. During that time, based on input from the participants, two major changes were made. The first was a change to a Head-to Head format, using Yahoo Fantasy Sports. The second change allowed for players to be changed daily instead of weekly, with a cap of 68 moves per year.

The first and third years of the tournament Mark Johnson, a former resident, was the winner. Bob Wilson, a White Sox fan, won the second year. Their names are engraved on the Fantasy Baseball plaque displayed on the Wall of Champions in the Villa. A new name, the winner of this year's competition, will be next on the plaque!

For the second year the Commissioner is Frank Everett, a devoted Kansas City Royal fan. Frank moved here in 2021, choosing Britton Falls because of the quality neighborhood, the designs and features of the homes, and the numerous activities offered. He has over 30 years experience playing fantasy baseball, including the Head- to-Head format now used. This made it a natural choice to join the Online Sports Group, and for Will to ask him to succeed Renee as the 2023 Commissioner.

Frank grew up playing baseball, continuing in college and in the semi-pros. He and a longtime friend of his, Charlie Lord who also is a big Kansas City Royals fan (played baseball in college and the minor leagues, and is in the Kansas Baseball Hall of Fame) go to watch the KC Royals spring training in Arizona every year, also traveling around to watch the many other teams who practice in that area.

The Britton Falls Fantasy Baseball season starts with the first MLB game on March 20 played in South Korea between the Dodgers and Padres. This year the fantasy season is 22 weeks plus 3 weeks for the playoff. There is currently only one league, with two 6 team divisions playing a different member head-to-head each week. Each week there is an opportunity to win 10 points, 5 categories in pitching and 5 in hitting. With the daily roster change, players can be switched between games, making it more challenging and more interesting for participants.
