Meet Nancy Stickney: A Life of Service, Adventure, and Lifelong Learning

By Tori Minton

Nancy Stickney has lived a life shaped by service, learning, and dedication to others. Originally from Green Bay, Wisconsin, Nancy grew up surrounded by the spirit of the Packers and remains a loyal fan today. Her admiration for Brett Favre, her all-time favorite player, is just one of the many things that highlight her Wisconsin roots.
Nancy devoted 45 years to the nursing profession. She began her career working in an OB ward and later became the head nurse in the NICU, where she cared for newborns in critical condition. Her nursing journey expanded further when she joined the United States Air Force, serving at five different bases across the country. During her time in the Air Force, she earned her flight wings, a milestone she is particularly proud of. She eventually left the service when she was pregnant, but she later used the GI Bill to pursue her bachelor’s degree, hoping to teach nursing. Teaching appealed to her because it allowed her to continue learning—as Nancy likes to say, “I like to teach because I love to learn!”
In addition to teaching nursing, Nancy also worked as a case manager in the field, continuing her commitment to helping others. Outside of nursing, she explored writing and contributed health-related articles to US Kids. Her work even earned her a national award, reflecting her ability to educate and connect with young readers.
Nancy has traveled extensively throughout the United States and has also visited Canada. Wherever she goes, she collects magnets, creating a visual record of the places she has seen. After living at Grissom Air Base and several other locations during her Air Force years, she eventually moved to Britton Falls, where she has been living for about a year and is enjoying her new community.
Family is an important part of Nancy’s life. She has two children: Jason, who works as a Senior Managing Partner, Global Vice President, and Head of Solutions at Concentric, and Megan, a radiologic technician living in San Diego. Both are married, and Nancy is the proud grandmother of one granddaughter.
With a career spanning decades, accomplishments in both healthcare and writing, and a passion for learning and exploring, Nancy Stickney’s life reflects dedication, curiosity, and resilience. She continues to enjoy new experiences and opportunities in Britton Falls, adding to a story already rich in achievement and adventure.
