While attending a celebration at another Little Gym location, Brad and Jodie Patillo found themselves watching children laugh, climb, tumble, and cheer each other on. The energy in the room was contagious, and one thought kept coming to mind: Braselton needed a place like this. That simple observation sparked a conversation that soon became a family dream.
Not long afterward, while out to lunch together, Jodie filled out an inquiry about opening a Little Gym franchise. From there, life moved quickly. Corporate training, selecting the perfect location, construction, internships, hiring a team, hosting community events, and planning a grand opening all led to one exciting milestone—the opening of The Little Gym of Braselton.
Only a few months after opening its doors, the gym has already become a place where local families gather for classes, camps, birthday parties, and Parent Survival Nights. Children as young as four months old can begin participating alongside a parent before transitioning into independent gymnastics classes as they grow. Rather than emphasizing competition, the programs encourage children to learn at their own pace while building confidence, coordination, strength, and independence. Around the gym, they call it "Serious Fun," a phrase that perfectly captures the atmosphere inside.
One of the greatest rewards has been watching familiar faces return each week. Children who may have been hesitant at first gradually become more confident, eager to try new skills, and excited to see the friends they've made along the way. Those everyday moments are a reminder that the gym is about much more than gymnastics—it's about creating a space where kids feel encouraged to learn, play, and grow.
That mission feels especially personal because Brad and Jodie are raising two active children of their own. Bryson, 6, has loved baseball since he was three years old, while Kinsley, almost 4, recently joined him on the T-ball field. When they aren't at the ballpark, the family enjoys spending time together in the backyard by the pool, grilling, and cheering on Alabama football.
Community has always been an important part of their lives. Brad grew up in nearby Lawrenceville, while Jodie was raised in Knoxville, Tennessee, before eventually moving to Georgia. Since settling in Dacula after their wedding in 2019, they have built strong friendships throughout the Braselton area, attend 12Stone Church, and make a point to support local businesses whenever they can.
Although The Little Gym is still new to the community, giving back has already become part of the vision. Plans are underway to partner with local schools by hosting Parent Survival Nights that benefit PTAs while also creating opportunities for children in foster care to participate in classes and celebrate birthdays at no cost. Building a business has always been important, but building relationships has been the greater goal.
The support from the Braselton community has made those first few months especially meaningful. Meeting new families, seeing children leave class smiling, and watching the gym quickly become part of the community has confirmed that opening The Little Gym was the right decision.
Looking back, it's hard to believe the idea started with a single birthday party. Today, that moment has grown into a place where children can stay active, build confidence, and create lasting memories while families find a welcoming community of their own. It's a simple idea, but one that continues to make a difference one class, one family, and one smile at a time.
