H.W. Mountz Welcomes Principal Layton

Assistant Principal Natalie Levine, Principal Dan Layton, Superintendent Dr. Stephen LaValva

This fall, students at H.W. Mountz will see a new Tiger in the halls- Principal and Supervisor of Curriculum & Instruction, Mr. Dan Layton. He will join the administrative team of Superintendent and Business Administrator, Dr. LaValva and Assistant Principal and Supervisor of Student Services, Mrs. Levine. Prior to 2019, the Spring Lake Board of Education had three administrators. H.W. Mountz will once again benefit from two administrators dedicated to student, programming, and school-based needs.

Mr. Layton’s experience made him a standout during the principal search. Dr. LaValva shared, “We are thrilled to have Mr. Layton joining our team. His background as the Supervisor of Curriculum & Instruction in two districts from PK-Grade 12, in addition to having served as a building principal for the past five years, is a perfect fit.”

Principal Layton is thrilled to be a Tiger. “I hear there is no community as great as the Spring Lake community! I am really looking forward to spending time getting to know all the students, families, staff, community organizations, and traditions of H.W. Mountz School.” Mr. Layton looks forward to working collaboratively with everyone to continue enhancing the students’ learning. “Their educational experience is #1 on my list.”

The Mountz administrative team is honored to continue building an infrastructure that will provide personalized learning experiences and opportunities for all students. After having led an award-winning small district school and his commitment to curriculum development at the PreK through 12 levels, Mr. Layton is primed to lead H.W. Mountz
