Meet Ozzy the Micro Goldendoodle

Nickname: Ozzy Bear (like Fozzie Bear from The Muppets)
Age: Just turned 1 year old
Parents: Mom is Goldie, Dad is Biscuit

We lost our beloved Boston Terrier, Oliver, who lived to 16 years old. After more than a year, we felt ready to welcome another dog into our lives—but this time we wanted a completely different breed and personality. We chose Bella Mini Doodles in Rochester, NY.

Years ago when my parents visited me in NYC, we stopped at the Design Center and one of the showrooms had the cutest Goldendoodle puppy named Cannoli. I instantly fell in love and asked the owner all about him. From that day on, I followed Bella Mini Doodles, which is where Cannoli came from. When it came time to get a new dog, I thought back to that moment—and now, years later, Ozzy came into our lives from the very same breeder. For all we know, he and Cannoli could be distant brothers!

Is there a story behind his name?
Yes! When Oliver passed, the house felt so empty. I wasn’t sure I’d ever be able to love another dog as much—but Ozzy is so different that it’s been a completely new experience.

In honor of Oliver, we wanted another name that started with an “O.” Since Danny and I both love music, we narrowed it down to Ozzy (after Ozzy Osbourne) or Otis (after Otis Redding). The moment we met him, we just knew he was Ozzy. We brought him home on October 4, 2024.

What makes him special?
Ozzy is the most affectionate dog I’ve ever met. He follows Danny and me everywhere—we joke that he sleeps with one eye open just to keep track of us. His favorite part of the day is curling up with us on the couch at night for his “massage.” Within a few minutes he’s sound asleep, but the second I move, he wakes up and insists I continue. He’s pushy, but in the sweetest way.

Does Ozzy have any favorite treats or activities?
Ozzy LOVES peanut butter and Sunday night pup cups. He also entertains himself by tossing balls in the air or lying on his back, holding toys up with all four paws—it’s adorable to watch.

What were the first command & tricks Ozzy mastered?
One of the first things Danny taught him was “belly rub” (aka massage). It’s no surprise that it’s his favorite! Commands aren’t Ozzy’s strongest area—he definitely marches to the beat of his own drum—but Danny is patient with him, and we make progress every day.

Does Ozzy have any neighborhood friends?
Ozzy gets along with all the dogs in the neighborhood, but honestly, I think the owners might love him even more. With his soft fur and teddy bear look, he’s become the unofficial neighborhood celebrity.

What do you love best about him?
His affection. He gives endless kisses and wants to be part of everything we do.

What is the naughtiest thing Ozzy has done?
Ozzy might be Houdini reincarnated. He can escape crates, jump gates, and somehow get into closed rooms. Once, I found him in our guest bedroom (where he knows he’s not allowed) pawing at our “very nice” window treatments and pulling a panel off the track. Both his dads were not happy!

How spoiled is Ozzy?
Extremely. He gets constant new toys, multiple long walks every day, weekly pup cups, bi-weekly grooming by his daddies, nightly massages, and endless love and attention whenever he’s not napping.

What is your favorite place to go together?
Believe it or not, the car wash. He’s mesmerized by everything happening around the car and jumps for joy every time we pull in. It’s become a special routine.
