Meet our newest writer Massimo Parkin and his family

Hi, I am Massimo Parkin, and I'd like to share my journey as a teenager who dreams of becoming an architect. Life has been an exciting adventure so far, and I'm determined to turn my dreams into reality.

As a teenager, I've discovered my passion for architecture, a world where creativity, design, and functionality come together. The idea of creating something from nothing has always intrigued me.

Balancing my academics with my love for competitive soccer and music has been a challenging yet fulfilling endeavor. Soccer teaches me teamwork, discipline, and resilience. Playing in the midfield, I've learned to make quick decisions and adapt to challenging game situations – skills that are undoubtedly transferable to the world of architecture.

Music is another very important part of my life. I play the guitar and am part of a band. We perform at local gigs, and there's an indescribable joy in seeing a crowd swaying to the rhythm of our songs.

Beyond my passion for playing the guitar and being part of a band, I'm slowly starting to produce music, diving into the genres of both rap and rock genres. Creating beats and melodies is something I've always dreamed of doing in the music world. Through music production, I've learned to blend sounds, telling stories through my melodies. My musical journey has taught me the importance of collaboration, creativity, and dedication. I believe this will set me on the path to becoming a well-rounded architect who understands the value of diverse perspectives and innovative design.

I'm also an artist. I find inspiration in the world of painting and digital art. Whether it's the physical experience of brush strokes on canvas or creating designs on Photoshop, I cherish every moment spent creating art. Art is where my imagination takes flight, and I often find myself immersed in a world of colors, shapes, and stories.

My parents' journey from humble beginnings is a source of inspiration for me. My mom, Marina, originally from Russia, immigrated to Canada as a young teen, while my dad, Matt, is from Minnesota. Their hard work and determination have made their lives into a story of success, serving as a guide for my own goals. I've learned that with dedication and a strong work ethic, I can overcome any problem and reach for success.

My family has always been my strongest support system. My parents have always encouraged me to follow my dreams and do what I love most. I have a little brother, Victor, who is 11 years old and looks up to me in every way. It's a great feeling to be an older sibling.

My path is just beginning, but I'm excited to take every step towards my dream of becoming an architect. I believe that architecture is not just about creating beautiful buildings but also about making a positive impact on people's lives. I know there will be challenges and obstacles along the way, but I'm ready to face them with determination and the support of my family and friends. My experiences in soccer and music have taught me that perseverance and hard work lead to success.
