Chris Boyd

A New Chapter and a Note or Two

What to do when you retire....?  Some folks pack up and move south to warmer weather, become avid golfers, volunteer, or maybe even become professional musicians!

Chris Boyd is ready for the next chapter!  After retiring last September from a career in investment management and finance, Chris and his wife Nina are now looking at what's next.

The Boyd's moved to Leawood South in 1991 and have raised five children who now are ages 26-33 years old.  They even have four grandchildren in the mix!  Two of their children had weddings this past September and December.  You could say, retirement life has been busy!

Chris's love for music began as a young kid watching his older brother play guitar. Chris mastered the guitar and played trumpet in school.  While attending college at Kansas University in the late 70s, he played bass guitar in a band called Night Shift...maybe you heard them play?

In 1995, Chris was playing with the worship team at church.  Those musicians went on to form another band called Abbey Road.  Yep, they played Beatles music and performed for private parties, festivals and bars up until the Covid pandemic when they disbanded.

At that time, Chris headed to his "music retreat" in the basement and began learning more songs!  With over 120 in his repertoire,  he can play a music set for 2-3 hours!

As a self-proclaimed late bloomer,   Chris is ready to get out and play and is looking for venues to perform in.  He would love to eventually form another band and record too!  With a playlist of rock and pop, Chris also has ideas for recording ambient music.

Chris's passion for music extends also to art where he has found another creative outlet. Drawing and doodling in bright colors has been very therapeutic. He wants to focus on creating beauty and reflecting on what God has given each of us.

A quote that is meaningful to Chris is, "Whatever you are looking for, you will find."
And so, he tries to dwell on the many good and positive things that are in this world.

Keep this musician in mind for your next event or gathering!  As for the next chapter, Chris says, "I am absolutely off the chart excited about my next chapter and pursuing music in particular!"
