Arianna Rel

Your neighbor Arianna Rel recently graduated from Centennial High School in May of this year. Her plans after high school are to attend Pima Community College on a golf scholarship to continue her academic and golf career. After she graduates with an Associate of Business, she would like to continue her golf and academic career in the hopes of getting a golf scholarship at NMSU or continuing to get a degree in sports marketing at the University of Arizona or possibly at NMSU.

Throughout high school, Arianna was involved in many activities like golf, student government, and the national honor society. She wanted to get more involved in school so she decided to join the student government and the national honor society. Through these programs, Arianna made new friends, got involved in various school activities like campus clean up, setting up school dances, and also participated in many acts of community service such as "Dress a Child".

She got involved in golf after a decision to not play basketball after her freshman year. Her parents wanted her to participate in other school activities and because she had a background in golf, she tried out for the team and ended up loving it. "In golf, I love the feeling of getting better, from improving my swing, making more putts from different distances, better ball striking, and lowering my score," Arianna said. In 2022, her golf team won the golf state tournament but that wasn't an easy feat. She said, "The first day of state I didn’t play good and shot a high score. The other girls on my team played well and we were down around 8 to 10 strokes from the leading team." She knew she needed to play better the following day and she ended up shooting an 89, her lowest score at the time. They won the tournament by more than 10 strokes. "This tournament showed me that in life, you aren’t always going to be at your best but that shouldn’t stop you from trying to reach your full potential," Arianna stated.

Participating in all these activities, Arianna knew she needed to keep a balance with school. She said, "I didn’t have a set way to keep a balance but I would try to get all my homework done after practice, after tournaments, or even during school. Another thing that helped was trying not to procrastinate, even though that is a hard thing to do."

When she is not doing any activities or homework, Arianna likes to spend time with her father Ricardo Rel and her mother Rozina Rel. Her father is someone who she greatly admires. "My father always goes above and beyond in his work and doesn’t give up no matter how hard the task is and that is something I admire about him. Even though he works he always took time off and made it a point to come and watch the activities I would do, like golf tournaments or even spend time with me and my mom. That is something else I admire about him, that he always puts family first."
