Meet the Halls

Hey neighbors! I’m Candice Hall, and I roll through life with my five amazing kids—my “FAB 5”! We’re beyond honored to be featured on the cover of Stroll Skaneateles’ July issue, which makes it even more special since July happens to be my birth month.
So, who are we? We’re the Halls!
Honestly, if someone had told little me that I’d end up in this charming town in upstate New York, I would’ve laughed. I grew up in the country with the fastest man in the world, paradise Jamaica-then moved to Canada with my family, then England to pursue my MBA, and later landed in New York by way of marriage. My first four were born on Long Island, and my youngest who I affectionately call my “Upstate NY warrior,” was born in Syracuse.
I get it—five kids isn’t exactly the norm these days. People are always surprised, asking if they’re all mine or commenting on how full my hands must be. I chuckle because, yes, my hands (and my heart) are definitely full; yes it’s not easy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
With my eclectic background, I’ve got just the right energy to keep up with my lively crew: Paige (9), Kenny (8), twins Pierson and Payton (5), and Paris (almost 4). They keep me on my toes, that’s for sure! It takes patience, grace, and a whole lot of love to raise them, but my daily goal is simple—help them grow into kind, confident, and grounded humans.
We transitioned to Skaneateles a few months ago from Cazenovia. Before that, we came upstate from Long Island during COVID, following my then-husband’s surgical practice. No matter what life throws at us, I always remind my kids to find the good in every situation. Gratitude is huge in our home—each morning at breakfast, they tell me what they’re grateful for. It’s our way of appreciating our blessings, no matter how small.
When I’m not juggling family life, you can catch me teaching cardio HIIT boxing at the Community Center. If that’s your thing, don’t be shy—come take a class! When school’s out, we love traveling, mostly to Canada—our second home. Nothing beats the joy my kids feel when they’re hanging with their grandparents and family. While not having extended family close by can be tough, we make the best of it.
Before moving here, we were super involved in our old school district. Kenny was a little football star, Paige rocked as a cheerleader, and I kept busy volunteering—rewriting the school’s vision and mission, working on DEI initiatives, and so much more. I’ve always believed that alignment is powerful. I used to always say that if I ever left “the other Lakers,” I’d want to end up in Skaneateles—after all, we’ve spent many summers here. Being a citizen of three incredible countries has taught me something important: home isn’t just where you live—it’s the community that surrounds you and the vision you hold for your family. My FAB 5 are thriving, making great friends, loving their new school and enjoying their many activities.
Looking back, no one could have ever told me that years ago I would have given up my life in Canada, for a whole new life in NY. In Jamaica, there’s a saying, “wi likkle but wi tallawah,” meaning we may be small, but we are mighty. That’s exactly how I feel about Skaneateles—our new home, our new community.
Wishing everyone a fantastic summer!
