Sarah’s Guest House: A Guest Story & Sentiments
My wife, Meg, and I required a long overdue medical procedure that necessitated a 2 ½ hour drive to Syracuse and a two-night stay in a city largely unknown to us. The prospect of staying in one of the many local hotels only added to our stress.
As luck would have it, a nurse at a clinic in Camillus told us about Sarah’s Guest House. After looking at the website, we were sold! Seeing that it was specifically meant for adult patients and their families, housed in an intimate former convent, and located in a quiet residential neighborhood immediately lowered our anxiety levels.
When we arrived, we were warmly greeted and put at ease by the young woman volunteering at the front office. She gave us the key to the room and we headed upstairs passing by the beautiful array of quilts hanging on the hallway walls. Our room was clean, simplistic and comforting. We put down our bags, put up our feet; and knew this would be a positive experience.
After a long 12-hour day spent at the hospital, we were so relieved to retreat to our lovely and quiet room at the house. After just one night, the house became our home away from home.
We couldn't have wished for anything more to make our stay any better. Since returning to Potsdam, we’ve informed health care providers we know of this wonderful facility.
With gratitude,
Donald (and Meg)
