The Moms Who Make Our Community Shine

Celebrating local moms through a special interview series by Madison Andre

Hi Neighbors! This Mother’s Day is a very important day for moms everywhere, including mine! My mom, Jennifer Andre, is one of the most important people in my life and one of my best friends. She has been there for me since birth, and I couldn’t thank her more. Mothers sacrifice a lot for their children, and it means so much that she does that for me and my brothers.

My favorite things about my mom are her humor, patience, and how loving she is. Her humor is unmatched—we have so many inside jokes that only we understand, so we’ll be laughing when no one else knows what’s going on. We also watch Jeopardy every night and shout answers at the TV like we know them, even though it’s a win if we only get just a couple right.

My mom’s patience is also really important. Without it, I probably wouldn’t be saying all these nice things about her! She is also incredibly loving and cares for our family no matter what. One special memory I share with her is going to dance classes at the gym. Neither of us is very graceful, so we laugh a lot and always leave feeling happy. She has also taught me something I’ll never forget: no matter how people treat you, always be yourself. Standing out is better than being like everyone else. This Mother’s Day, I just want to say thank you and I love you so much.

Jamilla Alhasan is a 5th grader at Copper Ridge School, and her mom is one of her biggest inspirations. Her favorite thing about her mom is how creative she is in everything she does. Jamilla loves singing and dancing with her mom, no matter how they’re feeling. They spend so much time together that they’re basically inseparable!

One of Jamilla’s favorite memories is when they went to Cancun, Mexico and swam together. Her mom also helps her through tough times and always encourages her. The most important thing her mom has taught her is to believe in herself no matter what. Jamilla says that if she could tell her mom anything this Mother’s Day, it would be that she is the best mom ever and she wouldn’t want anyone else.

Jenson Constantine is a 4th grader at Basis Scottsdale, and his mom has been there for him through everything. His favorite thing about her is that she helps him when he is sad and supports him in whatever he does.

One thing that makes Jenson smile is when his mom plays video games with him. When she loses, she gets mad at the game, which makes it even funnier. A special memory they share is that while his brothers were born on the 16th, he was born on the 19th, which makes his day feel extra special with her. His mom has also helped him with homework when it gets hard. This Mother’s Day, Jenson wants to say thank you for taking care of him and his brother.

Kingston Constantine is a 6th grader at Basis Scottsdale, and his mom is his biggest supporter. His favorite thing about her is that she does everything for their family, and he doesn’t know what he would do without her.

His mom makes him smile by doing little things for the family, like surprising him and his brother with toys. One of his favorite memories is going to CrackerJax, where they used a photobooth three times and still have the pictures. His mom has also taught him how to cook, including pasta, eggs, pancakes, and chocolate chip cookies. Kingston says Happy Mother’s Day and thanks her for everything she does.

Brody O’Malley is a 4th grader at Redfield, and his mom is one of his biggest fans. He loves how kind she is and how she supports him no matter what.

One thing that makes Brody laugh is when his mom accidentally mispronounces words. It’s not on purpose, but it always makes him smile. One of their favorite memories is watching basketball together. His mom has taught him important things like multiplication and how to ride a bike. This Mother’s Day, Brody wants to say that he loves her.

Naomi Ayres is a 7th grader at Copper Ridge, and her mom is one of her best friends. Naomi loves how her mom always makes time for her family, even with six kids! She drives everyone around and still finds ways to connect with them.

Naomi and her siblings love how their mom understands their jokes and plays along. One of Naomi’s favorite memories is traveling to Japan to watch her dad play basketball. The scenery and the people made those trips extra special. Her mom has taught her to always be kind, because being mean can lead to negative consequences. This Mother’s Day, Naomi wants to tell her mom that she loves her so much, even if she sometimes gives her attitude.

Ryan and Julia Hodge are siblings who love their mom very much. Ryan says his favorite thing about their mom is that she is kind and beautiful, while Julia loves that she is funny and always happy.
They both enjoy spending time with her. Ryan’s favorite memory is moving to Arizona and doing Mother’s Day activities at school. Julia’s favorite is getting her ears pierced with her mom. She also loves playing tennis with her because it always makes her laugh.

Ryan says his mom’s jokes always cheer him up, and she has taught him to always be kind to others. Julia says her mom has taught her to smile and stay positive. For Mother’s Day, Ryan wants to tell his mom that he loves her and that she is the best, and Julia says she loves her to the moon and back.

Stroll Silverleaf & DC Ranch would like to wish all the moms a very happy Mother's Day!
