Where did you grow up? How long have you lived in the area? Tell us about your family
I grew up in southern California and moved to Gilbert in 2000 after completing college. My husband, Scott, and I have four kids. Their ages range from 14 to 19 years old. Our daughter, Jadyn, is our oldest and is a freshman in college studying Forensic Psychology. She also plays indoor volleyball.

Our oldest son, Jaxon, is a senior this year and is planning on attending U of A to study business in the fall. He attends Casteel with his brother, Jace, who is a freshman. Our fourth child, Jagger is in 8th grade at Gilbert Christian School and loves to play basketball. We have one rescue dog, Jack, that we adopted in 2017.

We have lived in Seville since 2017. Golf drew us into this community and has been a great family activity for us to connect over. Every one of our kids plays golf now!

We also enjoy boating and spend a lot of time during the summer at Canyon Lake.

Tell us about the events that led up to where you are now.
I attended Biola University in La Mirada, CA. Once I completed nursing school I moved to Gilbert and started working in the Emergency Dept at Banner Baywood. I knew I wanted to do more with my career at that time and decided to enroll into the nurse practitioner program at University of Phoenix. After completing graduate school and obtaining my NP certificate in Family Practice, I joined a private practice in Gilbert and worked there for about 12 years.

I became really interested in starting a suboxone clinic and providing medication assisted treatment (MAT) for patients struggling with substance abuse. My history of working in the ER and seeing the effects of drugs on patients and their families as well as hearing the sad stories in the news almost daily of drug-related deaths, prompted me to obtain more education in this area and become MAT certified.

In the fall of 2019, I opened East Valley Serenity Health with this intention. Covid threw a wrench in my plan after just being open for a few months and I ended up morphing into an early outpatient treatment practice for Covid. I began researching more natural treatments at this time for general health and wellness, in addition for treating Covid.

What is your business, why did you start your business?
Once Covid died down, I was faced with how much I disliked dealing with health insurances. It got to the point where I wanted to choose a different career path just to avoid dealing with all of the headaches associated with them. I had a good base of patients at this time and decided to rebrand my business and start a Direct Primary Care (DPC) model with a membership plan. This model was enticing to me for so many reasons.

What is unique about your business?
My clients range in age from 11 years old  to 88 years old currently. I meet every client where they are in life and design workouts specifically for them. I also use assessments to look for posture and movement impairments. It is so important to have a solid foundation to build on.

Given your business expertise and the nature of what you do, what advice can you offer to Seville neighbors?
My advice to my neighbors is getting good, prompt healthcare does not have to be inconvenient or be costly. I'm not sure how many people went to the ER or to an urgent care this season for the flu. My patients receive same day treatment without having to wait in long lines or pay high co-pays or deductibles for their care. Additionally, I work with a few companies that will come to patients' homes and perform x-rays, ultrasounds and lab draws. It's very convenient.

I predict the DPC model will be gaining more popularity as less providers want to deal with corporate healthcare, the stress of having to see a certain quota of patients per day and receiving lower reimbursement from health insurances.
