Introducing Angelina Myler with Perfect Party Planner

From Boardroom to Ballroom: How One CEO Built the Perfect Party

Where did you grow up?  How long have you lived in the area?  Tell us about your family
I was born in Bowling Green, Ohio, but spent most of my life in Detroit, Michigan. In 1995, I made the move to Arizona to be closer to my parents after welcoming my first child, and I’ve been here ever since. I’ve been married to my wonderful husband for 24 years. Together, we have a blended family with three amazing kids: our oldest son is 34, our daughter is 31, and our youngest son is 23. I’m also a very proud grandma to one beautiful granddaughter who completely lights up my world.

Tell us about the events that led up to where you are now.
I began my college journey at Eastern Michigan University and later continued studying interior design at Mesa Community College after moving to Arizona. Around that time, my dad, freshly retired from the automotive industry in Michigan, decided retirement wasn’t for him and started a quality inspection business. He asked if I could help with some of the administrative work as his company began to grow. At the time, I was already working full-time as an administrative assistant for a multi-location pediatric group, so I agreed to help him part-time, just until I could find someone else to take over. But he had other plans. He didn’t want anyone else. He saw something in me and eventually convinced me to take a leap of faith, leave my job, and join him full-time. That leap launched a nearly 25-year journey in corporate America, where I ultimately became CEO and majority owner of the company we built together. I’m forever grateful for that experience, but deep down, I always knew my heart was pulled in a different direction. For years, I tried to quiet that inner voice, until someone in my CEO group asked a simple question: “Why can’t you lead this company and also start the one you’ve always dreamed about?” That question lit a fire in me, and from that moment on, the flame only burned brighter.

What is your business, how/why did you start your business?
That was the beginning of Perfect Party Planner. I first stepped into the world of professional event planning in 2018, offering my services beyond just friends and family, under a different business name. Just as things were beginning to pick up, COVID hit, and like so many others, everything came to a sudden halt. I was heartbroken and began to wonder if my dream would ever truly take flight. Then, during that powerful conversation in my CEO group, something shifted. I was reminded that I didn’t have to choose between success and passion; I could rebuild, and this time, build something even better. That’s when Perfect Party Planner was born. I made a promise to myself and to my future clients: I would spend my days doing what I love, and in turn, make sure my clients could fully enjoy their celebrations without stress or distractions. No one should ever have to miss the magic of their own event, and that mission continues to guide everything we do today.

What is unique about your business?
What sets Perfect Party Planner apart is the experience we create- not just for the guests, but for our clients. With over 20 years in corporate leadership and a lifelong passion for hosting, I’ve seen firsthand how often the host is too busy running the show to actually enjoy it. That’s where we come in. Our motto, “We work, you enjoy,” isn’t just a catchy phrase; it’s our promise. We handle every detail so our clients can be fully present for their celebrations. Whether it's a corporate event or a milestone birthday, we bring a level of care, creativity, and professionalism that allows our clients to feel like VIPs at their own event. What also makes us unique is the blend of high-end design and thoughtful touches. We don’t just plan parties, we craft experiences that feel personal, polished, and unforgettable.

Given your business expertise and the nature of what you do, what advice can you offer to the residents?
One piece of advice I often share, whether you're planning a large event or simply hosting a small gathering, is this: be present. It’s so easy to get caught up in the logistics, the timelines, and the to-do lists that we forget the reason we’re celebrating in the first place. From years in both the corporate world and the event planning space, I’ve learned that the most meaningful moments are the ones we actually get to experience, not just manage. So my advice to residents is this: don’t be afraid to ask for help, delegate what you can, and give yourself permission to fully enjoy life’s special moments. Whether it’s a birthday, a retirement party, or a backyard get-together, you deserve to be part of the memories, not just behind the scenes. And if you're ever feeling overwhelmed, know there are people (like me!) who truly love turning your vision into reality so you can just show up and soak it all in.

What else should we know about you, your family, or your business?
One thing I’d love for people to know is that everything I do, both in life and in business, comes from a place of love, legacy, and purpose. My journey started by helping my father with his business, and over time, it led me to create something of my own with Perfect Party Planner. Now, I’m honored to turn moments into memories for my clients while building something meaningful for the next generation. Family is everything to me. My husband and I have a beautiful blended family, and we’re especially excited right now as our youngest son is getting married this October! And my granddaughter, she’s the light of our lives and already talking about being the “boss” one day, helping out at events and in the warehouse. Watching her excitement reminds me why I do what I do. Outside of work, I’m always striving for continuous improvement, in myself, my business, and the experiences I create for others. I have a black belt in karate, which taught me the value of discipline and perseverance, and in my downtime, I love to read, work on puzzles, and sneak away to the beach or anywhere near water to recharge. At Perfect Party Planner, we treat every event like it’s for family because to us, it is. We’re here to take the stress off your shoulders so you can be present for the moments that matter most.
