Sarah Eakes
North Carolina State University
Sarah Eakes graduates from NC State University with a clear vision and unwavering dedication to her dream of becoming a veterinarian specializing in equine medicine. A four-year Shelton National Leadership Scholar—an honor awarded to just a few incoming freshmen each year—Sarah traveled to London, South Africa, and Vietnam on service and volunteer missions that broadened her global perspective. Her passion for animals, especially horses, has grown into a focused commitment to providing veterinary care to rural communities with limited access to services.
Sarah is currently awaiting admission to NC State’s Veterinary School, where she hopes to begin her next chapter this fall. If not accepted this year, she plans to reapply for 2026 and spend the year gaining valuable hands-on experience through exotic and equine internships.
Throughout college, Sarah balanced a demanding STEM course load, work responsibilities, and an internship in Florida—all while navigating challenges that strengthened her resilience.
Sarah looks forward to a future in veterinary medicine, combining her love of animals with a deep interest in genetics, ethical breeding, and compassionate care.

Sarah, we couldn't be more proud of the young lady you've become, and you amaze us all the time. We know you will do great things in this world. We love you so much, and we've always got your back. Love, Mom and Dad
