A Taste of Tarrant's West

There’s something about a night out at Tarrant’s West that feels effortless and inviting, and our March 31st event was no exception.

Bringing the charm of the original Richmond favorite to the West End, Tarrant’s West blends elevated comfort food with a warm, vintage-inspired space full of character and thoughtful design. It’s the kind of place that feels equally suited for brunch, a casual night out, or a private gathering like ours.

From the start of the evening, guests settled into a relaxed atmosphere that made it easy to connect. Guests were excited to spend time with four Stroll partner sponsors, including Jackie and Fabian Alonzo of Aloha Kitchen, Bath, and Design, Hein Botha of No Time Flat Plumbing, Gabrielle Qahaar of Aspire Weight Solutions, and Melissa Longo of Tarrant’s West (catering/private dining)—all of whom help make events like this possible. Attendees described the space as “beautiful” and “very nice,” while others appreciated the “laid back atmosphere” that set the tone. The private dining area added a sense of intimacy, with one guest sharing it felt “intimate and personal,” and another highlighting “the kind welcome, engaging people, and personal conversations.”

The food was a standout throughout the evening. Guests enjoyed a variety of appetizers and hors d’oeuvres, including a grilled vegetable platter with herb dipping sauce, crab and spinach dip, buffalo chicken dip, mini lump crab cakes, assorted crostini with chicken salad and goat cheese with cucumber, meatballs in marinara, and southern ham biscuits with honey beurre blanc. Favorites quickly emerged, with the crab and spinach dip called “fantastic” and the buffalo chicken dip “on point” with just the right amount of spice. A dessert spread featuring brownies, cannoli, cheesecake, and flourless nemesis cake rounded out the experience, and more than one attendee summed it up simply: “the food was amazing.”

Beyond the menu, Tarrant’s West is known for its hospitality and community feel, which was evident all night. Staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring everything ran smoothly. As part of the RVA Hospitality family, the restaurant continues a tradition of welcoming spaces and crowd-pleasing favorites, including their well-known She-Crabby Soup—a local staple.

To top it off, four door prizes were given away, adding a fun finish to the evening. Congratulations to winners Vicki Bradt, Hein Botha of No Time Flat Plumbing, and Sara Brockbank, along with one additional lucky guest.

By the end of the night, it was clear why Tarrant’s West is such a local favorite—a place where good food, good company, and genuine hospitality come together naturally.
