The Guild has run its gallery, The Palm Room Art Gallery & Artisans Boutique, in Sewall's Point since 2019, so 2026 marks about seven years of gallery programming and nine years as a formal nonprofit.

A working artist community rooted right here in Martin County. Our roughly 50+ member artists live and work throughout Stuart, Palm City, Port Salerno, Jensen Beach, Hobe Sound, and Sewall's Point, and many have called Martin County home for decades. What we share is a commitment to this community: nurturing local artists, keeping the arts visible and accessible, and giving residents and visitors a reason to fall in love with Martin County's creative side.

The Guild grew out of a simple need: professional and emerging artists in Martin County wanted a way to exhibit their work, support one another, and reach the public without each having to build their own gallery, marketing, and events infrastructure from scratch. What began as informal gatherings of local artists — friends supporting friends — became a formally incorporated nonprofit family in 2017. By 2019, the Guild had secured its own gallery space — The Palm Room Art Gallery & Artisans Boutique — in Harbour Bay Plaza, Sewall's Point. 

The Guild also features an annual flagship event, the Martin County Open Studio Tour, and has built a full calendar of rotating exhibits, fundraisers, and community programs — gradually becoming one of the county's most visible cultural institutions.

The Martin Artisans Guild is a volunteer-run, nonprofit cooperative. Our mission is to nurture the production of fine art and craft, increase awareness of local art, facilitate development and networking among working artists, and create marketing and exhibition venues for our members. We started because talented artists in Martin County needed exactly that: a shared, professionally run space to exhibit, sell, and grow — something none of us could easily build alone, but that all of us could sustain together as family does.
Beyond supporting our own members, the Guild exists to enrich Martin County's cultural life as a whole. Nonprofit arts and culture organizations like ours generate real, measurable value for the county — it is estimated that local arts and culture activity contributes $27.2 million to the local economy, supports 752 full-time-equivalent jobs, and delivers $3 million in local and state government revenue each year. Our own programming — the gallery and the Open Studio Tour — is estimated to generate over $230,000 in related local spending on dining, lodging, shopping, and transportation, on top of the less measurable but equally important gift of bringing neighbors and visitors together around art, education, and creativity.

A family of jury-reviewed, working artists who share the cost and labor of running a professional gallery, so every member can spend more time creating and less time on overhead. That cooperative spirit shows up in the quality of what you'll find at The Palm Room: because every piece is juried by fellow professional artists, visitors can count on museum-quality work in every exhibit, in styles and price points to suit any decor, budget, or occasion — from a small original to a statement piece for your living room. Our Artisans Boutique rounds out the experience with handcrafted jewelry and gifts made by our member artists, so you can always find a one-of-a-kind piece for yourself or someone you love. Between the gallery, six rotating juried exhibits each year, and our flagship Martin County Open Studio Tour, we give the public several different ways to meet our artist family face-to-face — in the gallery, in their studios, and at community events — rather than just seeing finished work on a wall.

Community Engagement 

Our traditions are built around bringing people together over art. Every new exhibit opens with a First Wednesday Reception (5:30–7:30 pm) featuring small bites and a cash bar, followed a month later by a "Meet the Artists" mini-reception. This February 27- 28, the whole community comes together for the Martin County Open Studio Tour — a weekend where our artists open their studio doors to the public — kicked off by a festive Preview Night at the Elliott Museum February 11 5:30-7:30 pm. These gatherings are as much about relationship and community as they are about the artwork itself.
Buying local, original art is one of the most direct ways to support your community — every purchase supports a working artist's studio practice and, through the Guild's cooperative model, helps fund exhibitions and events that keep Martin County's arts scene thriving. We'd also encourage residents to visit artists' studios in person during the Open Studio Tour: seeing where and how a piece is made changes how you see the finished work, and it's the best way to find a piece — and an artist in our family — that truly speaks to you.

This September, we're kicking off our new exhibit season with Fall Into Art, running September 2 – October 28, 2026, with an Opening Reception on September 2 (5:30–7:30 pm) and a Meet the Artists reception on October 7. Alongside the exhibit, visitors can enter the annual and much-awaited Chances for Art raffle, where Guild artists donate original artwork, sip-and-paint classes, and workshops, with proceeds helping fund the Martin County Open Studio Tour. New this year, visitors can purchase our new Martin Artisans Guild Artist Calendar, featuring a curated sampling of artwork from our member artists throughout the year.
Speaking of the Tour — mark your calendars for the Martin County Open Studio Tour, February 27–28, 2027, preceded by a Preview Night at the Elliott Museum on February 11, 2027. It's a free, self-guided weekend where the public can visit artists' studios across Martin County, watch live demonstrations, and buy directly from the artists.
