Meet Barkley
Riverview’s Golden Boy has mastered the good life, complete with neighborhood adventures, endless games of Frisbee and plenty of time with his favorite people.
There are neighborhood dogs, and then there are neighborhood celebrities. Barkley may just fall into the latter category.
Barkley, a six-year-old Goldendoodle, has spent the last five years calling The Enclave home, where he has perfected the art of living the good life. His days are filled with neighborhood walks, backyard lounging, games of Frisbee and, most importantly, plenty of time with his favorite people.
With a house full of girls, Barkley holds one particularly important role in the family: giving his human dad, Kevin, a little extra male companionship. And the feeling is definitely mutual. If you ask Barkley, Kevin is pretty special, too. When Kevin heads out for a run, Barkley can often be found patiently waiting by the door for his favorite guy to come home.
True to his Goldendoodle personality, Barkley is affectionate, social and always ready to be part of whatever his family is doing. He loves greeting visitors, snuggling with his people and going for rides in the Bronco, preferably with his head out the window. He will even occasionally agree to a game of dress-up, although he usually decides pretty quickly that fashion simply isn't his thing.
His real passion? Frisbee. Barkley is always ready for another throw. He will excitedly retrieve his toy, bring it back and wait with laser focus for the next round. Given the opportunity, his family is pretty sure he would happily keep the game going all day. His toy collection gets the occasional upgrade with a new prize from the claw machine at Lupi’s, but the Frisbee remains a tried-and-true favorite.
When he isn't playing fetch, Barkley has plenty of favorite places to explore. A typical neighborhood adventure might include a short walk, a loop around the pool or the longer route around Quiet Pond, where spotting a duck or deer makes things extra exciting. For a special outing, he loves taking the trail to Rivermont Park. And on slower days, you might find him relaxing under the cabana, soaking up the sunshine by the pool or lounging with his family at Southern Squeeze.
Of course, no neighborhood stroll is complete without saying hello to a few friends. Barkley especially loves seeing the neighborhood kids and is always happy to stop for some extra pets and attention.
At home, Barkley is happiest simply being wherever his family is. He follows them from room to room, curls up beside them and greets everyone enthusiastically when they return home. One of the family's favorite memories is his very first birthday photo, where Barkley appears to be smiling right at the camera. Now, every year when the family sings "Happy Birthday," he gets so excited that they are convinced he knows the celebration is all about him.
And really, he doesn't need much to be happy. Give him his family, a Frisbee, a good walking trail and maybe a pup cup along the way, and life is pretty golden.
