Where Every Flower Tells a Story
What began with flowers from her grandfather’s garden grew from Jamie Rehm’s kitchen sink into Bud Floral + Home, a Riverview business now celebrating 17 years of creativity, connection, and community.
Long before Bud Floral + Home had a storefront, a team, or 17 years of celebrations behind it, there was a beautifully set table and a grandfather who believed flowers were meant to be shared.
Growing up, Jamie Rehm loved helping her grandmother, Margaret, prepare the table with beautiful linens and silver. The finishing touch came from her grandfather Bud’s greenhouse and garden. Bud was known for sharing his flowers freely. They marked birthdays and celebrations, offered comfort through sickness and loss, and sometimes arrived simply because someone needed a little happiness.
Watching those small gestures taught Jamie something she would carry with her for years. Flowers have a way of meeting people exactly where they are.
When her own love of flowers eventually grew into a business, naming it Bud felt like a natural tribute to the grandfather who had first shown her what they could mean.
The business itself grew just as organically. As Jamie’s two sons got older, she found more time to devote to flowers. Friends and family began asking for her help with events and fundraisers, and what started as a passion slowly became part time work, then a full time business.
Bud began 17 years ago at Jamie’s kitchen sink. From the kitchen, the business moved into the garage. Eventually, it grew into the brick and mortar shop that Riverview knows today. Opening the storefront five years ago brought new opportunities, plenty of experimentation, and an important lesson that not every idea has to work.
By listening closely to customers, her team, and her family, Jamie has continued shaping Bud into a business that feels authentic to the brand she envisioned. Through all that growth, the heart of the work has remained remarkably similar to what Jamie witnessed in her grandfather’s garden.
Flowers still show up for life’s biggest moments.
Today, the Bud team creates arrangements for weddings, birthdays, illnesses, losses, and everything in between. After 17 years, some of those relationships have even come full circle. A customer who once carried a Bud bouquet to prom may later return for wedding flowers, then come back again when it is time to celebrate a baby shower.
Being trusted with one milestone is meaningful. Being invited back for the next chapter is something Jamie never takes for granted. That sense of connection extends throughout Riverview. Jamie lives here, Bud is located here, and the business has become deeply intertwined with the community around it. The loyalty goes both ways, with Jamie and her team intentionally supporting the people and businesses around them while remaining grateful for the neighbors who have supported Bud year after year.
Behind Jamie is a team of creative, talented, and hardworking women she considers part of her Bud family, along with a supportive family at home that includes her husband, two sons, daughter in law, and Rosie, their English Cream Golden Retriever.
As Bud enters its next chapter, Jamie plans to continue growing the retail side of the business while pursuing the work she loves most, creating unforgettable events. Destination weddings are a particular passion and something she hopes will become an even bigger part of Bud’s future.
Seventeen years after the first arrangements were created at a kitchen sink, there is plenty to celebrate. Yet for Jamie, the milestone is also an opportunity to recognize the people who made those years possible.
Every arrangement ordered, wedding entrusted to the team, class attended, person who walks through the doors, and recommendation shared with a friend represents something bigger than a transaction. Behind each one is a person, a story, and a moment worth marking.
Perhaps that is why Bud’s story feels so fitting. What began with one grandfather sharing flowers with the people around him has grown into a business that gets to do much the same.
