The Battle for the Belt!

Rivermoore resident Ed Cortez, the winner of our last sanction competition, a poker tournament back in January 2020.

The belt, the ring, the trophy, the cup.  Athletes at the highest levels strive to hold “that thing,” the symbol of reaching the championship summit. Wouldn’t be fun if “leisure sports athletes” in Rivermoore had something to chase as well?  That’s what we thought!

Behold, the Stroll Rivermoore Park Leisure Sports Championship belt! Periodically, we will sanction leisure sports competitions, and the winner will receive this championship belt.   The last sanctioned event we held was a poker tournament way back in January 2020, won by Rivermoore resident Ed Cortez (pictured here).   The winner of our competitions will hold the belt until the next competition, at which time they will either defend or vacate the championship.

So after a pandemic-imposed hiatus, we are back … and with the belt!  Be on the lookout for upcoming competitions, possibly bowling, poker, golf, cornhole, or anything else we can conceive.  Whatever we play, there will be a fun and spirited battle for the belt!
