Cuddles Galore!
Goldendoodles are known for being affectionate cuddle bugs, and Walter and Willie are no exception. Meet these cozy additions of the Bartels family!
A little about the Bartels:
Our family moved to Rivercut in July of 2015 from Illinois. We love the neighborhood because of the friendly people and beautiful scenery. We enjoy walking our dogs and seeing familiar faces.
Who are your furry friends?
Walter and Willie are brothers. They are seven year old Goldendoodles. Goldendoodles are known for their unique mix of intelligence, friendliness, and charm. These two are definitely all of these traits and then some!
We came up with their names because we are from Illinois and Chicago Bears fans. The dogs are named after legendary players Walter Payton and Willie Gault.
When did Walter and Willie join your family?
We had a friend who introduced us to the Goldendoodle breed. We had recently lost our lab and she suggested a breeder she knew. We waited a bit longer but eventually got Walter and Willie from her. We were so happy we did!
What makes them special?
One standout trait of Goldendoodles is their people-focused nature. They don’t just enjoy being around humans - they actively seek connection. Goldendoodles often follow their owners from room to room, make frequent eye contact, and seem eager to be part of whatever is happening, whether it’s a walk, a conversation, or just relaxing on the couch. These characteristics fit our dogs to a T! They are constantly glued to our side and make great companions.
If Walter and Willie could talk, what would they say and why?
It’s hard to say exactly what words they would use, but it would be a nonstop mix of enthusiasm, affection, and wonderfully goofy thoughts—delivered with a wagging tail and a big, happy grin! They would be chatterboxes!
What's the cutest thing about your dogs?
Where do we start? It’s hard to pick just one cute thing the Doodles do! A few things that come to mind are the zoomies with no warning, sprinting in wild figure-eights like they’re late for an imaginary meeting, or how they sit like humans - slouched back on the couch with their legs splayed out. They’re just all around adorable.
What is their superpower?
Goldendoodles are known to sense sadness, stress, or boredom from three rooms away. They immediately deploy cuddles, goofy faces, or a stolen sock to make everything better. Our Doodles definitely have this power! They love keeping everyone happy with their silliness and sweet faces.
What is your favorite memory with them?
Definitely bringing them home! My husband Zack had made them a custom dog kennel that looked like furniture. The first night they were home, they were so small that they squeezed themselves through the bars. We woke up to see them sitting so cute and confused!
What kind of adventure would they like to go on?
If our Goldendoodles could pick an adventure, it would be something exciting, friendly, and full of sensory chaos! They love something as simple as a car ride to put their noses out the window or a walk through the neighborhood exploring all the smells and people!
