If you had told my high school self that one day I’d be running a full-scale landscaping company with a fleet of big red trucks rolling through Acadiana, I might not have believed you. Back then, it was just me, a pickup truck, a push mower, and some equipment my dad bought for me. I was just a kid cutting grass to earn gas money and have some fun with friends. Fast forward more than 20 years, and Acadiana Choppers has grown into something I’m incredibly proud of—a company that transforms outdoor spaces, enhances curb appeal, and helps homeowners create the landscapes of their dreams.

I grew up in Duson, Louisiana, and like many kids, I started mowing lawns in high school. A good friend of mine, John Green, and I decided to turn it into a real business, calling it GreenVic Lawn Care. Our motto? “You Grow It, We Mow It.” That motto stuck, and it’s still something we live by today.

In those early days, it was just a few of us working together, making enough money to enjoy life. But after graduating from high school in 2002, I realized I wanted to take things to the next level. That’s when I launched Acadiana Choppers Inc. and bought my first zero-turn mower—a huge milestone for me at the time!

While I was passionate about landscaping, I also had another dream—I wanted to become a nurse. So, while working toward my nursing degree at UL Lafayette, I kept my lawn care business going. It wasn’t always easy, but I hired friends to help me, and we made it work.

After earning my nursing degree in 2007, I became an ICU nurse at Opelousas General, working night shifts while still running Acadiana Choppers during the day. Then in 2009, I made a big move—I bought a small landscaping company. That’s when I really started to expand my services beyond lawn care and into landscape design and installation.

During this time, I was juggling two careers, but I was eager to learn everything I could about landscaping. I would walk around the nursery at Lowe’s before sunrise, studying plants and design techniques, all while maintaining my weekend night shifts at the hospital.

By 2015, I faced a decision—continue nursing or go all in with Acadiana Choppers. I took the leap, retired from nursing, and dedicated myself fully to the business. That’s when things really took off.
