Acadiana Animal Aid Gala Returns to Support Local Rescue Efforts

Two River Ranch residents are playing key roles in one of the most meaningful events of the fall season. Alex Stuller, board member of Acadiana Animal Aid (AAA), and Sandy Giles, the organization’s Vice President and this year’s event chair, are helping bring the 2025 Bark in the Dark Gala to life.

Presented by the Stuller Family Foundation, Bark in the Dark will take place on Thursday, October 30, 2025, from 6:00–9:30pm at the DoubleTree by Hilton. Guests will enjoy a buffet dinner, complimentary beer and wine (cash bar for well drinks), casino-style gaming with “play” money, door prizes, lively music, and a highly anticipated silent and live auction. Play money is included with each ticket and sponsorship, with more available for purchase during the event.

Proceeds from the gala directly support AAA’s 50+ year mission to rescue neglected and abused animals, reduce pet overpopulation, and educate the public on animal welfare. The organization has helped save thousands of animals each year through rescue, adoption, medical care, and community programs.

In 2024 alone, AAA rescued 1,071 dogs and 859 cats, facilitated 1,781 adoptions, and supported over 20 municipal shelters. Their foster network cared for more than half of all rescued pets, and their clinic performed over 1,400 spay/neuter surgeries and administered nearly 9,000 vaccines and monthly preventatives.

AAA’s impact goes beyond animal rescue. The “Kitty Literature” and Junior Volunteer programs teach children how to care for animals with compassion. Their partnership with a local veteran recovery facility provides therapeutic experiences for veterans coping with PTSD and substance recovery—proving that the work they do changes lives of all kinds.

The silent auction is open to the public, and winners do not have to be present to claim prizes. Donations of door prizes and auction items are being accepted through September 15, and sponsorships are available through September 22. Donors will be recognized at the event and on AAA’s digital platforms.
