A Day in the Life of Natalie Vidrine

Before most of River Ranch is awake, Natalie Vidrine is already thinking about the neighborhood she cares for every day. From early-morning security reports to late-afternoon resident meetings, Natalie quietly works behind the scenes to keep River Ranch running smoothly. But beyond the schedules, work orders, and calendars, it is her love for the people and the place that truly defines her role.

We sat down with Natalie to learn what a typical day looks like, what she loves most about her job, and why River Ranch feels like more than just a place to work.

What does a typical day look like for you?
My day usually starts around 5:30 a.m. The first thing I do is reach for my work phone to review photos security sent overnight. I am already making work orders from bed, noting things like leaning bollards, damaged signs, or anything that needs to be addressed first thing.

By around 6:00 a.m., I am reading the full security report while I drink my coffee and let my dogs out. I go through the report carefully to focus on the residential areas I manage, as security also monitors the commercial areas within River Ranch. All of that happens before I have even started getting ready for the day.

I arrive on property just before 7:00 a.m. and begin with a full ride-through of the neighborhood. I drive nearly every street, looking for anything maintenance should know about as soon as they arrive. It is my way of making sure the day starts on the right foot.

After your morning ride-throughs, what comes next?
After my ride-throughs, I usually make it into the office around 8:30. That is when I start going through voicemails, emails, texts, and resident portal requests. Every morning, I also have a conference call with property managers from neighboring communities, where we share challenges and ideas. It helps to know we are all working through similar things and can lean on one another.

After that, I start returning calls and messages.

What fills most of your afternoons?
Afternoons are usually when I schedule resident meetings. That might be helping someone log into the portal, setting up auto-draft for dues, answering questions, or helping work through a concern with a neighbor.

I am also paying invoices, depositing checks, managing budgets, running reports, and planning resident events. A lot of people do not realize how much goes into those things, but it is all part of keeping the neighborhood running smoothly.

You are known for being very accessible to residents. Why is that important to you?
The relationships are my favorite part of this job. My office becomes a place where neighbors naturally stop in throughout the day, sometimes with questions and sometimes just to talk. I do not mind at all. The people are why I love being here.

I have built relationships with so many residents over the years. I always say I have a whole village of “grandparents” here. If I do not hear from someone in a while, I check on them. That connection really matters to me.

We hear you keep Milk-Bones in your office. What is the story behind that?
I do! I keep Milk-Bones in my office because I love when neighbors bring their dogs by for a visit. Those little moments, a wagging tail or a quick hello, make my day. It is such a simple thing, but it reminds me how special this community is.

You manage far more than most people realize. What are some behind-the-scenes responsibilities residents might not see?
I manage calendars for park use, pool parties, photographers, 5Ks, and events. Everything goes through me. I schedule permits, work with vendors, oversee maintenance, and make sure shared spaces are being used appropriately.

I also do regular ride-throughs and compliance checks, meet with security, and stay involved with long-term planning for the neighborhood. There is a lot happening behind the scenes every single day.

What part of your job makes you feel the most proud?
Driving through River Ranch and seeing how beautiful it is. Knowing I play a small part in keeping it that way means a lot to me. But even more than that, it is the relationships I have built. This place feels like home because of the people.

What is one thing residents could do to make your job easier?
Communicate with each other. So many issues could be resolved if neighbors just talked and helped one another out. Being neighborly goes a long way.

When you are not working, how do you like to unwind?
I recently bought a house, and I am renovating it, so a lot of my free time is spent looking at paint colors and light fixtures. I actually really enjoy it.

If you could say one thing to River Ranch residents, what would it be?
Thank you for letting me into your lives. This job is a blessing. I love coming here every day because no two days are ever the same. Some days feel routine and others are completely unpredictable, but I am grateful for all of it.

Natalie often jokes that one day she will write a bestselling novel about life in River Ranch, and after spending even a few minutes with her, it is easy to believe it would be full of heart, humor, and unforgettable stories.

From early mornings to full afternoons, from Milk-Bones at her desk to meticulous calendars behind the scenes, Natalie Vidrine does far more than manage a neighborhood. She cares for a community, and River Ranch is better because of it.
